Thank you! I tried changing it, but it didn't take. Was driving me nuts every time I saw it.

HALO is an extremely under-used tactic.

As far as the Helos, why gunners feel the need to shoot constantly while in the air, they're not shooting at anything...just shooting off into the horizon, is beyond me ...lol.

HALO was HEAVILY used in old skool DC on Iwo Jima Take the MH-53 'Spawnchopper' and drop people from crazy heights. People would be able to glide from one side of the island to the other .

Commander can spot the helo with scan and right-click-spot no matter how high you are and then you are J-10 bait.

            HIGH ALTITUDE LOW OPENING

basically just outa a plane really friggen high (use oxygen masks) and then open chutes really friggen low

a lot of times at night which boggles the mind if youve ever been skydiving before

That's not so bad, a black hawk decided to land on top of my FAV a few days ago.

Re: Flying Low In Choppers, Revealing Your Position, HALO, and Leapfrogging

Why do people fly low in transport choppers???

Why do the gunners fire at nothing at all and give away our position when doing so???

95% of the time I am in a transport chopper, the pilot takes off and flies right into the IGLA's, tanks, other choppers, and jets and dowwwwwwwwn we go in flames.

Not only that, the gunners are firing into the water at nothing just making a lot of noise and giving away our position.

When I pilot a transport chopper, I take it straight up to 400-500 feet where I am more invisible and less accessible.

Of course, all the while, most people are just screaming GO! GO! GO!, not realizing that we are going to fly high, leapfrog them by by bypassing the main battle(s), hover over a weak flag and HALO in, take the flag and grab their armor/helos/jets (and maybe blind and de-claw them by taking out their assets) to open up a rear action behind their lines, thus drawing forces away from the main battle(s) or even just act as a mobile spawn point (I'm SL) above the flag so my squad (if I have members on the helo) can HALO in.

Rarely do I get shot down and rarely will I find some players with brains who will see me in the chopper and join my squad and HALO in.

More often than not though, they will jump out and immediately pop their chutes and take 5 minutes to float down to the ground - not realizing then can close/re-open their chutes again to get there faster... If I don't get a good squad, I HALO in myself.

BTW, I see the Nort and South bases get leapfrogged all the time on Wake. Everybody hops in an FAV or tank and heads straight to the tips. A helo or two just flies right past them all, caps the unguarded flags, and they are isolate the guys at the tips.

What a great time it is though when you find some good, smart players.
I agree 100%. Its really frustrating to be in an attack chopper and be reloading your missiles to take out a mobile AA while you line up your TV for the kill and the gunner shoots his chaingun at the AA, it turns around and blow me out of the sky....

I mean wtf...if the average person in the world had the IQ of the average bf2 player the world would no longer exist....

How do you close your parachute once it's been deployed?? I've tried many times and never figured it out.

Yeah, flying low isn't a bad thing at all, actually if you have smart jet pilots , flying low is your best option as high flying choppers are easy bait....

The best idea is to fly low AND away from the battle.

To the best of my knowledge I don't think you can reclose it/reopen....

there should definatly be a way to cut the cord of the chute......not sure about re-deploying it after that, as i dont think a person could pack a chute while free-falling, or even having multiple chutes....

Well, it may not be realistic, but I think you SHOULD be able to undeploy and then redeploy.

Most people that play BF2 want instant action, not some 10 minute scenic helicopter ride, where you waste your time getting up into the air only to be shot down by the elusive J-10. You wouldnt last a minute on Wake with smart J-10 pilots, decent ones know silly tricks like that and will hunt you down...
I almost can't believe you wrote this statement. On Wake especially, I can't tell you how many times the US barely can get a man on the island because the pilots do the same 50ft altitude thing EVERY TIME and get shot down EVERY TIME. It gets bad enough that I feel like getting out and making sure "United 93" isn't written on the tail fin.

Now if I'm piloting the chopper ascending to high altitude and my passengers are complaining I'll know two things:
                            1. They are tards...not me. WTF else could I POSSIBLY be doing going that high.
                            2. They can bitch all they want, but they'll be alive and fighting the good fight in 1 minute at most.

People who play BF2 want instant action yes, but they also want to win and get as many kills as possible in the process. So you tell me how they're supposed to do either when time and time again their repeating fly straight in stragedy gets an entirely full blackhawk blown to bits.

Personally, I'd rather take my chances with 1 J-10 pilot who, statistically speaking, is likey going to suck anyway and never see me in the clouds, than fly 100 ft up where the entire enemy army is waiting and expects me to be.

I'm mad at a two parties. The first is at EA for not making a Vehicle Speak option like Operation: Flashpoint did so I can talk to the people as long as they're riding with me. The second is myself for waisting my time writing this to you when you're enough of a fool to write what you did, because that statement could only be written by someone who is incapable of learning.

at Tactical-gamer we use HALO jumps all the time, they work really well, and alot of the times there are dedicated HALO squads who all use voip, really adds to the game when your all working together as a team.
