hahaha all of those games are utter cr@p (sorry but they are ) - What i am referring to is the actual upcoming game called "ww2 - realtime strategy"

google it and prepare to be amazed. it used to be done by codemasters under a different title but now the studio is going it alone AFAIK. Awesome concept - uses an updated and modified il2 engine (as in, the view distances in this baby are incredible).

go check it out - currently C&C3 is looking suspisciously top down view for my liking - and i will never go back to that sort of RTS ever since Ground Control and Rome Total War :)

I know I'm a heretic for saying this, but C&C:Generals is actually my all time favorite RTS game. Now that it's official that the C&C series is going back to its roots, I'm a bit disappointed.

Ye i kinda feel the same way. Generals was definately the best of the lot. The older ones had style but Generals had far more substense for strategies.

Generals was totally paper scissors stone...older (and even newer sometimes) RTS tend to be more like a food chain. Thats partly a game engine issue. In generals you can say "this does x damage against y" whereas older game engines had a much more basic damage system..."this does x damage"

Also Generals made sense. I knew what everything was and how it behaves. Thats something i dont like about most RTS, made up stuff with made up logic makes the game abstract...then you have stuff like AoE...I dont know what a trireme is ro what its for and i frankly cant be arsed to do a military history degree to play a strategy game.

In generals they also realised that adding units doesnt increase gameplay...it just nacks it. They made sure every unit had maximum gameplay possibilities rather than just throwing in ever more powerfull units because the gameplay comes from the interaction of units not the units themselves.

But the guy that invented CnC worked on Generals and this new title wcich runs on the same engine...so hopefully itll have the generals feel.

Err dude hate to rain on your parade but, your up and coming game has been up and coming for the last 3 years or so, it's changed names twice and also lacks a publisher.
I have been following the progress of the game and have given up hope a long time ago.

                          another generic ww game...yipee.

The game industry would be screwed if the wws never happened.

                            Re: Command & Conquer 3

Since its using the Sage (Generals) Engine, I hope they fix the damn network code, we used to play C&C Generals + Zero Hour at my local LAN gaming center and EVERYONE (from the slowest to fastest, top-of-the-line gaming rigs) had to have all the graphics settings on low in order to insure non-laggy (for the most part) game play, this included when it was PvP games involving only people with high-end PCs.

But defiantly looking forward to a new Command & Conquer game, I've enjoyed all of them, though from everything I had heard the next one was supposed to be Red Alert 3, which I was looking forward to alot!

It's being developed by EA simply like Generals I think, since Westwood is no more
