It gets the job done for now so thats good enough
I think it's a good choice to stay with the card u have for now. I actually saw a reliable review that showed that some of the AGP versions of 7800 aren't that awesome. Seems like the AGP can be sort of a bottleneck for the 7800
Re: I seen in the Ad for Best Buy the NVIDIA Geforce 7800
I would buy the video card as soon as possible just to get that ATI stuff outta my PC. LOL
Really you should probably work on other aspects of your PC with that card. It should be doing good enough that I would upgrade ram or even the CPU (given the cash) first.
Re: I seen in the Ad for Best Buy the NVIDIA Geforce 7800
BFG GeForce 7800 GS OC 256MB GDDR3 AGP Graphics Card at $3199.99 is very expensive AGP Vcard but there's no other AGP available that's comparable to its performance around so there's no choice but this one. Zipzoomfly has that at 299.99 bucks, and newegg has no available stock.
Personally, for a video card no other out there can beat the XFX PV-T71G-UDE7 GeForce 7900 GT EXTREME (520MHz) 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 for the price of $299. Take a look at the specs:
Re: I seen in the Ad for Best Buy the NVIDIA Geforce 7800
Just to let ppl know i can tell a bit what happened with my PC and BF2.
I started to play with a Sempron 3000+ and a 9800XT 256Mb both a bit overclocked, and 1Gb of RAM. Because i like high FPS, i could only use the lowes graphics settings with 100% veiw distance and maybe 2xAA.
I upgraded the graphics card to 850XT and i got some performance increase so i could turn up one or two video setting to medium, but the FPS was very inconsistent.
Then finally i bought a AMD 64 3800+ 939 and it made a big difference. With the old graphics settings the FPS was over 75 most of the time so i could definately start to use at least the medium settings. Alltogether the FPS was way more consistent.
So the graphics card is an important factor but only if the rest of the system can supply it with enough to process.
Re: I seen in the Ad for Best Buy the NVIDIA Geforce 7800
That video card will do you just fine for BF2, and you will seriously regret spending all that money on a new video card now with directX 10 coming out. You'd be better off buying some decent ram.
If you could give me your full system specs (mobo, processor, exact type of ram, PSU) I could give you some better help, but I'd think you're probably best off with buying a new stick of quality ram. 1 GB will do, 2 GB will make bf2 run a lot smoother on higher settings. Brands like OCZ, Crucial ballistix, corsair, and kingston are what you're looking for. In any case, the performance benefit will be much higher than buying a new video card instead.
Although as I said, system specs please
And people, PCI-E does not make your video card faster!
Buying a completly new system - or any expensive upgrade, for that matter, is like buying shares on the eve of the American stock market crash, 1939 :)
Re: I seen in the Ad for Best Buy the NVIDIA Geforce 7800
My spec: AMD X2 4400, x1900xtx, 3gigram, 1600x1200 monitor.
OMG, what a difference. The chopper was actually flyable, and can snipe better with 100 draw distance. Ground fight improvement- no lag when getting shot and can return fire. Smooth as silk fraps. This game is actually rendered in 2560x1600, so this can look even better with an Apple cinema and quad sli. It makes a big difference when you upgrade. If youre dedicated enough to this game to read the forums, spend the cash for a decent rig.

unless you have a buddy that works there that's about the only way you'll get a competitive price from them...of course they are like most other computer stores, to include: compusa, circuit city, etc. They make a large portion of their money off peripherals (atleast for computers) because they have hardly any mark up at all on their computer systems...
Re: I seen in the Ad for Best Buy the NVIDIA Geforce 7800
I went out and looked at a GB of ram from best buy. From there I went to a local computer shop. I ended up getting 2 512 sticks of ram, for what BB wanted for 1 of them.
