Damage is the same on all the submachineguns and so is the ROF. The P90 and MP7 are minutely more accurate on the first shot, and less accurate on subsequent shots compared to the default SMGs. Unless you are close enough to press the barrel against his chest, you should only fire in 2 or 3-shot bursts anyway, so this really has a very small effect.

At longish-short range (if that makes any sense), it will probably do better than the Jackhammer, but any of the shotguns are better at eye gouging range. Some people say the pump shotguns have less spread but I dunno if that is true, no one seems to have pulled any data for spread out of the game files. Probably just a myth brought about by their higher damage. A hit with 63% or more of the pellets from the pump shotguns will one-shot armored targets.

So I guess the answer is no, its not bad, but it is nothing special. It originally had higher dmg per shot, so there was a bunch of people using it (myself included). You could beat a shotgun about half the time with the old MP7. You are better off carrying the shotgun and practicing those pistol skills now, in my opinion.

I find the MP7 a great gun at close range (such as Karkand) but at distance it's useless.

The MP7 is really just a slightly-more-accurate version of the AT stock guns. The fact that AT players drop those guns for a far-better shotgun should give everyone a clue to why you shouldn't be dropping far-better shotguns for a crappy SMG.

No G3 is much better....

I think he is talking about the size of the clip before the patch. It was same as the G3, which is 20. Then they increased it to 40, but decreased the damage and the accuracy. I liked it better before. Anyway, everybody knows that the mp7 cannot be compared to the G3. I like it mainly because you can also shoot at mid range, not only at short range like with the shotguns.

Thats the problem right there, I want the old mp7 back I didn't even use it very much but when I did, it wasn't like total ownage, but its much better than the current mp7....

Let's put it this way, it still cannot be compared with assault rifle, but it's got better mid range potential than shotgun. When I play engineer on close combat maps only, I use the jackhammer, otherwise I use the MP7.

Sledgehammer is the best gun for short range, better than MP-7 and much better than AT's 12 shots crap.

If by "bad" you mean BAMF, then hell yeah! I love it, it is the bomb for up close kills, way more useful than the shotgun.

MP7 rocks once on a unranked server I grabbed someone's kit and there were 2 enemy's approaching whipped my MP7 out sprayed as some mother***** and wee both dead without even hurting me woo that was a nice action..

I love the MP7 , its devastating up close , and its not too bad if you have it on single shot at a distance.

MP7 in 1.2 was great, it's still ok now but not as good as it was, up close it's still pretty powerful though.
