If someone calls you a name, big friggen deal. Show everyone you are "better than" by replying in an unruffled rational way without the name calling.

If you really feel the need to insult, it's way more effective to use a little wit about it. Spouthing four letter words and screaming about how you have a life ain't gonna help your case. At all.

BTW, your info on British cops is flawed. Some carry nightsitcks (actually "Billies", more like bottons tha nightsitcks), some cary guns. Your average footie cop doesn't pack any firearms, but they can quickly call in people who do. Their equvilent to SWAT carries some damned nasty gear.

What, exeactly, do you think the cops used to shoot the crap outta that suspected bomber in the tunnels last year? Harsh language?

It's also worth noting that their cops have a much lower ratio of accedental police killings than the States does. MUCH lower. Their police are generally a lot better trained too.

Point is, your information is bad. I'd suggest getting to know some of the facts before you freak out at someone who pointed out that you're wrong and stated your case really badly.

This post pretty much is an observation of the 'discussion' of firearms among the public, so I'm actually writing a response to every person who's participated.

I'm glad AND sorry I opened this can of worms- I get to hear the opinions of different gun-endorsing and non-gun-endorsing cultures and nations.
Glad, that I learn which nations thinks and feels that they need guns to protect themselves from all matter of 'invaders'; and also whicn nations feel they don't need guns among the citizens.
A clear difference between the two; one seems fundamentally more insecure than the other - only for the fact that they believe guns are a necessity for the general population; and in that they derive the security they need by posessing one themselves.

Oh yeah, I'm also sorry for opening that thing up, because we're bound to get some flaming and offensive branding here and there. But of course- though it takes one to start a fire, it only takes a fool to jump into the flames (to those who were flaming and those who mindlessly retaliated of course, not those partaking in the discussion of the issue without needing to prove their point with inappropriate language and register).

And, Wargimp is indeed right- it's more about social setting than about the availability of firearms. I'd hate to think what possibilities may be if we expand this concept to a global basis (and going at our current rate). In any case- I believe, under the right social settings, firearms would probably inevitably be pointless.

One more thing- lets try not to diss each other's national ideologies and doctrines; yes, I live in a commonwealth, and hey- but I never felt the need to have a gun, and no one can tell me any different; your country endorses guns, that's great, ours don't, but- we finally realised we could do without, thus we never (by majority) demanded for them again.

Oh, and... I really am not jealous of people who posess firearms; if you're implying that the world is in any way in envy and admiration of your nation's ideologies, you are very very wrong.

If you know much about shotguns, you will be able to spot the fact that he's proably shooting the smallest load possible (2 3/4 inch) and probably sporting shot at that (less gun powder) so that "12 gauge" is shooting like a 16 or a 20 gauge.

Put some 3 1/2 inch 00 Buck Shot in there and see how much it kicks.
