Hey, if you really wanted to play in a squad with objectives and cooperative teamwork find yourself a Clan. There are a lot of Clan servers out there and some comes with teamspeak like in teamHAF (I'm a filipino (Philippines)) and I joint teamHAF entirely for this purpose. I'm sure you can find a lot of clan communities there in Europe. TeamHAF server is from Texas, USA (http://www.team-haf.com/).

I think a lot of people just haven't found good servers to play on. I won't play on a server unless people squad up and work as a team. The best server I've found is the 1st Armored Division server. There's a lot of good players that play frequently and people almost always join up in squads that will work together.

The only thing about squads that bugs me is, like someone said previously, when the squad leader jumps into a jet or helo so we can't spawn on him/her to keep the squad together. If you want to fly get a second person in your squad and lock it, please!!! The exception is if you have a couple people who ARE NOT the squad leader who fly a helo or jet for air cover.

This will sound like spam and in some aspects it is. However it is relevant to your post and most people who follow this advice are thankful in the long run.

The server you are looking for is called Tactical Gamer. On this server due to the large community and various rules in place you will obtain the gameplay you and anyone else is looking for. That gameplay consists of:

        - Everyone must join a squad. Keep reading...there is a point to this...
        - Squads are laid out appropriately and usually correctly titled based on squad goals. Jets join air squad, choppers chopper. Asset destruction have their own squad. Infantry based squads are just that...all infantry. You are strongly encouraged to fill out full squads before starting new ones. Rarely do you see 7 3 man squads...its usually 4 6 man squads. No more fighting over choppers/jets...you get to use that asset the entire round.
        - Every squad must follow commanders orders. Sounds overly restrictive but this leads to fantastic gameplay. If every squad follows orders than entire team based tactics come into play do they not? Both commanders now have loyal chess pieces he can maneuver around the battlefield as he sees fit. Since jets and choppers are in their own squads those assets can be coordinated by the commander toward specific tasks. If you are in an infantry squad being harassed by a chopper you can let the commander know and the jets will be scrambled to attack that target. Want a UAV or arty strike...call it in...you'll get it.
        - There is no squad leader switching on this server. Not because it technically can not happen but because the TG community has always felt that its not how the game was meant to be played. Squads were meant to have a stable SL who is vocal and gives clear objectives to his squad.
        - Squad members who follow orders? Yep..its part of the rules and since most people who play on the servers are regulars you see squads working how they were designed. Stable SLers with all SMers working together toward goals with appropriate kit layouts for the situation. Its beautiful to watch.
        - Defense, Defense, Defense. No longer is basically the entire team always pushing towards one flag. Since TG uses a custom bleed script where you inflict bleed as long as you hold more flags than the opponent , defense becomes very important. Half the time during a round you are likely defending....and you will come to enjoy it more than attacking.

Those who should ignore this post:

        - Those who want to continue lonewolfing.
        - Those who are not willing to give up stats for much better teamwork. Yes the server is unranked. To the normal pubbie without knowing how good this game can be this will seem hard to give up.
        - Those who have no chance of playing during US primetime. 8PM - 2AM EST. Unfortunately this is really the only time the server is heavily active. Weekends see a bit more activity...

If I have captured anyones interest then do give the server a try or two. I think those who desire the gameplay normal pubs do not deliver will be very happy with TG. The battles are epic due to the level of coordination and teamwork that occurs on this server due to how squads and commanders are properly utilized.

When this is happening, I'm asking the squadleader for leaving his tank/chopper a short time. This works... sometimes

Mantis couldn't have said it better. Tactical Gamer isn't for everyone and we don't chastise the players who want to play as individuals or spend all their time earning unlocks, but for those who feel BF2 should be a team game with a chain of command and frequent use of the in-game VOIP, there really is no better server.

Every 1 in a vehicle should be a SL

When I am commander instruct every 1 in a vehicle to be a SL so that I can direct them faster

I thought that was commanding 101 lol

                peace:)

Re: squads, squad leaders, commanders and their job

You shouldn't need to join a clan or play on unranked servers, to play a good squad based game. I mean, ain't that whats BF2 all about??
Whats the point of commanding if none of your squads listen. Why not remove all commanding and squads and play it like MOH???

I was on Karkand last night as a SL. I had about 4 members who were all over the map and didn't stick with me, or wasn't able to read the game.
I was at train flag, I looked on the map to see out CO putting a UAV over the 'suburbs'. There was 1 APC, 1 TANK and one troop. Knowing that their next target was the flag I was at, or at least they would drive through it. I needed to defend. I was anti tank, and knew I wouldn't be able to hold them myself. I ask for mines in my location NOW.

I was so shocked to see a squad member spawn on me, who then went running up the road with something in his hand. GREAT !! teamwork, the dudes learning. I see him drop something on the road. I then notice that it ain't got the skill N bones over it. I look again. HES A FRIGGING MEDIC !!!! - who soon dies by......an apc round.

                  Its hard out there guys

                    Lol!

Man... there's good servers and bad servers, it seems.
Last night I was playing on the R2 server as usual. When I joined, a round of Wake had been going for awhile. I was on the US side and was a little discouraged to see that they only had one CP and hardly anyone was defending it. I made a squad and spawned there just in time to run away as it was steamrolled by a nasty force. I was hiding and hoping that someone would join and spawn on me so we could try to take something. I was fairly sure I'd end up with a bunch of monkeys joining up then forgetting about teamwork... I was plesently suprised.

Kudos to Shedevill (a real chick, BTW) especially.
"Oh crap, I'm down", says I.
"No you're not!", *ZAP* says she. Repeatedly.

We almost turned that round around. We were losing 200 to 120 when I got in... shortly after getting that squad together, we managed to grab all the flags. Unfortunatly, our commander was a bit of a noob and didn't even know how to spot (I was busy giving him command tips while yaking with my squad and trying to keep the momentum up), so they managed to get a flag back and busted us out at 60 - 0.

Fun round, despite a rough start and it ending in a loss.
