Stupid now! I chose to unlock the FN2000. But teh FN 2000 is in fact the default assault rifle of the SAS team of SF. Damn it! I have wasted one precious unlock, I should have been a bit smarter to avoid this mistake.

You can't use any tier two unlocks in SF anyway, so it's a bit irrelevant. The "unlock" bit about it only means you can use it in vanilla BF2. In which case, the fact that it's the standard Brit assault gun doesn't matter. And the real bonus of the F2000 is not only do you get the gun in vBF2, but you also get to bring flashbangs to vBF2 if you take the F2000 out to play. Unlocking that weapon is the only way to get flashbangs in vanilla BF2. That makes it worth the unlock alone, IMO. I quite like the F2000 btw. I like the G3 too, but it needs a bigger clip, and I sometimes miss the GL. I know why the G3 is the way it is, so please no-one tell me about balance issues etc - I'm not complaining, just explaining why I like the F2000 despite the G3's undoubted ability as a hard-hitting assault rifle.

To follow your logic, all tier two unlocks would be worthless, because they're all standard weapons for one of the armies. SCAR-L is the Navy SEAL spec ops gun, G36E is SAS medic standard gun, MG36 is SAS standard support gun etc etc.

Leeus and ThomsponTommy, you need to learn how to actually use a gun before saying it's bad. The amount of people i've heard slagging off the ak-101, for example...

Personal Attack "You Need to learn how to use a gun before saying its bad." You don't know me, you don't know how long I've been playing, and no I don't the name because I don't spend that much time playing the game and have more important things to remember then names of guns.

The 'mec support gun' (wich is called the rpk-74) is a fine piece of kit, better than the saw at long ranges. The fact that you were calling this gun bad and that you didn't even know it's name do seem to point out that you have not used it or haven't properly gotten used to it yet.

My last post was not a personal attack Thompson. As I am usually support in matches (where unlocks are not allowed) I've practiced a lot with the default guns and can safely say that none of them are the worst guns in the game. I was simply trying to point that out. These boards are for discussions, so don't start seeing hostility in everone's posts when it's not there.

I saw hostility in your post. As you can see above it has been highlighted. I'm all up for discussion. But before you try blowing peoples points out of the water maybe you should look at your own approach.

What I said was a simple truth: You can't call something bad if you are not using it to it's full potential.

Wrong again buddy, thats not what you said at all. What you said is that WE should learn how to use something before making a judgement. I agree. I am simply saying that YOU do NOT know me or Leevus. I am getting the picture now Gav, thanks really. I didn't know that before. As I said in my previous post, P-90 appears in Euro Force and I have decided not to have it after trying it out in Euro Force. Of course I know it will be brought forward to vBF2 I didn't know unlocks are for all of the 3 games including SF and EF.

I just returned from my 1st battle after the unlock FN2000. I still keep the other unlock unlocked.

Strange thing is after unlocking the FN2000, it is not available from say the Insurgent Force Assault class?? Why that is so? Does it not mean unlocked weapons are available regardless of which side you choose and available to both BF2 and SF and EF???

But after the unlock I do feel my armor is tougher. I am less prone to being killed

You have just discovered one of the most annoying "features" of SF. A lot of the unlocks are not available on every map in SF, it depends what army you are playing for.

Mmm Yeah the chinese AT default weapon looks like the gun the German Army used in the second world war... Can't remember its name. There's probably a gun fanatic here that could tell us.

Not the sten, the clip was sideways on the Sten. Look at the picture of the Chinese stock AT weapon, it looks like a smaller MP-40

I didn't mean the Sten gun thats the british equivalent is it not? The German one I was talking about which is MP-40 you're right. I wonder if its the same gun.

I was full of hope when I come to unlock. Now I am quite disappointed. But still, I appreciate this arrangement. You do not expect Insurgent, Russian and the Chinese to have FN2000 which is a British made assault rifle. Unless we are talking about a black market deal :|:

I don't mind the lack of FN2000 so much since you have some other nice options for assault with the AKs and the G3, but where it really bugs me is the sniper rifle choices for some armies (no m24 or L96 option) and the AT (can't use the P90).

The F2000 rocks. Kills unarmored opponents in 3 hits,armored in 5. Full auto with 30 round mag and a GL to back it all plus flashbangs. At long range the sight makes it a little difficult to hit people but with practice you can. I have a lot of kills with that gun and at close to med. range its great.

Sniper rifles in BF2 is like some thing not come to good use if you see what I mean. I hold this view since I started playing BF 1942. vBF2 has many maps open to tanks, APCs, bombers, choppers...etc and you can't find a high place to hide yourself to do the job well. So I rarely play Sniper.

I would tend to believe that the function of a sniper is to provide more accurate reconnaisance data to teams fighting at the front line. But according tot he information, each unlock sniper rifle has very high damage value possible indicates that 1 shot quite likely results in 1 kill; provided the target is not moving. is it possible to shoot someone at that range who is movig by the way? I doubt.

What compensates my disappointment is that apparently after the Unlock of Assault FN2000, I have better armor, can someone confirm this?

I liked it when I first unlocked it (was in my first two unlocks). I don't really play assault anymore (well now I do to get expert time in) but when I do I use the G3. Thats a beast right there.



I think you're thinking of a Sten. Was a submachine gun used by the Brits. And yeah, it looks just like it.

No, I think he's thinking of the MP38/MP40-



The sten's magazine loads feeds from the right sie of the gun, so it doesn't really look like the Type 56.

Have you got Euro Force or SWAT 4? Famas is the most admirable weapon I have ever used for close Combat. In SWAT 4, no body can survive a direct hit, or an assasination kill by Famas. Its burst mode is lethal but you need more than 1 shot usually. It is effective though.

I know the FN2000 and despite it lacks the red dot notion which SCAR-L has, its damaging power is not to be underestimated. It's just that I have been playing other classes lately which I haven't used it for some time now.

Well I am departing on 24 April and don't know when I will return otherwise I will be playing Assault all the way til I get theGunnery Sergeant. I will unlock the JackHammer and the MG36 next time.
