Re: You mean there's more to Karkand than the Hotel?

When playing as MEC i HATE fighting at hotel.
Its just a rape fest from USMC armour because it takes ages for our armour to roll in...and the spawn points!?!? having them in alleyways adjacent to the roads is real stupid.. just has a crapload of spawn rapage.
Oh and i get WAAAAYY more points when fighting around train wreck than i do at hotel.
Hotel i just die over and over.
At trainwreck its much less rapage and there is actually time to get to know the area and flank teh nubs.

Mate, thats you cant handle 3 on 1. That is the point of MEC on Hotel. Everyone Stacks to USMC. If you are 1337 you go Mec as its a challenge, you get base raped and alot more. That is why you have to be prepared. When you spawn dont stand there like a dumbarse. Run and prone. Mec tend to split up more when USMC just rush together. That is hwy I love Mec. You get behind them, = maj0r ownage. I got 16 knife kills in 1 round knifing spawn campers at Hotel XD

w/ the hotel guarded by c4 and mines, the USMC APCs and tank aren't going anywhere except camping at the "gate of Karkand"

Exactly Mahoro. ALl you have to do is throw 3 mines on the road 2 on the other. Problem solved. Keeps armour away from raping you at spawn.

The Karkand hotel must be 5 stars or something for all the smurfs to fight over it so badly.

Re: You mean there's more to Karkand than the Hotel?

since most teams on either side are filled with some form of insert vehicle type here .... whore its very easy to keep the usmc armour bottlenecked at the hotel as any armour by itself is easy pickens....

perhaps if a winiing team got some bonus like the commander does it would change things but players will play as they want to..... win or lose..

i myself like to win so ill sacrifice the points to guard an important spawn boring sometimes yes but it;s fun to beat a team by 200 points too

no one has any right to dictiate to any other person how they will play if the squad/team im on isn;t helpng the team i leave and play with someone who plays like i do ....

my philo. if u dont like it find another sertver !!!!!

The most important flag is the hotel. Even if you lose Hotel and all subsequent flags all the way up to the railroad tracks, the #1 objective should be to cross the river, make your way up to Hotel via the right flank and cap it. This does 2 things:

                a) Makes a ton of them go back to Hotel in fear of losing the flag.
                b) Forces the armor to make a pitstop on the way to the action.
Hotel just isn't important. Any good MEC team will gladly give it up in favor of defending more meaningful flags. Hotel has no vehicles, no defenses, and offers only a few hundred meter difference from where the USMC start anyway. It's of no consequence and is easily bypassed.

Actually you can roll a transport vehicle or an APC right up the stairs and have a firing angle on every inch of the Hotel cap area. It's also worth noting that the plants in the flag area have collision boxes, which means you can bank an APC round or tank shell off of them from the road and kill anyone hugging the inside of the outside wall with the splash damage.

There is only 1 Vodnick for transport (usually taken by a lucky single person who does god knows what with it).
Honestly, the walking isn't much of an issue as long as you know the best approach angles. The market can be reached in less than a minute and you have the high ground for the attack, as well as choice of where to insert.

The Square is a hop, skip and jump away. Plus, you have great cover and high ground up until you reach the lower west buildings. You also have first choice, covered access to the sniper building just NW of the square.

Firstly, having a TOW/HJ-8 at all is a good thing. It's more than we can say for the Hotel :)

Secondly, every single approach requires an uphill drive, and any discerning engineer knows that the best way to place mines is at the top of a hill right after the crest, which makes them almost impossible to spot, even in 3rd person view.

The flag is incredibly easy to C4 and successfully take out people inside and outside of the sandbags (including armor). You have about a half dozen good firing positions high and around the flag, and the spawn points are spaced out very well (one in the garden, one by the pool, and one by the flag), which is far better than the ever-camped Hotel spawns.

As stated, it's really not that far. The longest run is the downhill jog to the Train accident, but the high attack angle cannot be beat and you have a great, well-covered route down the far north side of the buildings and behind the TOW, mounted MG, and whatever else they have set up.

If you're going to backflag, the Suburb is the only way to go. One of the biggest mistakes the MEC team can make is spending a ton of tickets defending the Hotel. It's just not enough of a gate to the other flags (you can bypass it on the far east and far west sides anyway), and it offers very little tactical or strategic value related to capturing the remaining flags.

                Just my opinion, of course.

On our clan server, bet your a$$ we're gonna go for the main. Then we're gonna take our tank and two APCs, plus the additional tank and two APCs that spawn at the factory and run all over your hotel fighting a$$es!!

BUT...in some random pub I'll be at the hotel. Why? Because it takes teamwork to take and hold their rear areas and you will not find that in some random server. Granted I occasionally find a squad I can work with and then I will play as usual, but short of that I'll be reviving all the other people wasting time at the hotel.

Makes sense really, that's where the points are. Besides my W/L ratio can handle quite a few losses.

Selfish I know, but then so is everyone else at the hotel.

You should stick around on the opposite bank of the Gatehouse, popping up from behind the concrete ledge which covers the small uphill slope and snipe with your PKM anything that tries to move across the bridge (or spawns at the gatehouse flag).

Re: You mean there's more to Karkand than the Hotel?

This post is pointing out exactly what is wrong in this game.

Personal greed. "I play Karaknd for points not the win" is exactly the same reason why you people think that you have to switch teams to get a war college ribbon.

Stop caring about getting points for unlocks. It takes more skill and you get more satisfaction being good with standard weapons. If your good enough and fast enough you can simply run at a PKM noob and nail him with and M16 "YOU DONT NEED UNLOCKS TO BE GOOD"

Think about others and your team more often and help your team to win not personal glory.

Btw about Karkand.. you are all wrong about which flag is important other than the factory (due to armour) they are all equal.

1)You must have a squad defending suburbs.

2)You must have a guy on the square roof to drop c4 on anything that comes.

3)You must blow the bridge up at the start of the round and have a guy defending the train accident.

4)You must have 1 or 2 AT guys with a vodnik defending the east red zone.

Why ? you may ask. Because MEC cannot win karkand unless they hold all flags the whole round due to spawn rape at the hotel.

You need constant ticket bleed to stay ahead

I always spawn at suburbs as MEC, and you wait...and eventually the enemy does come. Since I generally team with my cousin (him as spec ops me as anti tank) you can stop them using the Anti-tank weapon and the stationery RPK on the rooftop, as well as just shooting them from above if they do not notice you. Plus, you hear them driving towards you a mile off. Losing sucks, and I lose alot at Karkand, more so than any other map in win/loss ratio due to everyone being at the hotel while me and my cousin go from flag to flag fighting off the American squad or two that isn't being ground up in the hotel area.

But it seems that most people are interested in points. I'm not saying hotel isn't fun, but after 9-10 months you would have thought folks would have figured out that they keep getting shot in the back as people just walk by them. Heck, no one even defends to the right hand side of the Hotel (MEC facing towards USMC base) just that god forsaken alley of death.
