I tell everyone on armor to race to the back, and all infantry to move in towards the front, so by the time the MEC armor arrives to hotel, they will have to drive back to save Factory, as the US infantry is already advancing to sub. This is why i like playing with a team.

No one else wnats to play the other map, we have a all maps server and there could be one slot left for it to start, and we can go hours waiting. So then they all jump back to the karkand server thats full 24/7

You make some nice points for the win. As a defender mining the road properly and setting up the AT team for hill-crawling humvee to the 'burbs and stationing a squad to cover the wall runners up the east side is a good start. This slows the advance dramatically and sets up a nice pocket for the artillery to concentrate on. Mining the ford and blowing the bridge should also happen in the first five minutes of the game as well. Provided you keep the mines fresh, you can keep the American mobility to a dead crawl making them easy picking by AT squads. If you have a sacrificial spec ops or two, try for the american arty. Best case: you shut down the arty. Worst case: you tie up defenders at the gun emplacements while you bleed the tickets.

Re: You mean there's more to Karkand than the Hotel?

While alot of people are right about just hanging around the hotel and getting points, thats more for MEC, how many points can you be making as US if you do nothing but wander into the same area that the enemy is defending, especially if they get all their armour peices to the front, nevermind wandering in and spec oping US assests. I spend all my time on MEC at the square and suburbs, because I know atleast one other squad on the US has some sense to get atleast one other flag.

I stopped playing for points once I got my third unlock. Meat grinders can be fun, but I prefer being able to suvive a battle, which requires a little less chaos, and a actual strategy.

The best example I can give of US being silly was a while back. I took out a tank and was hopinh to slip along the east street, but there was a tank and a apc blocking it, and repairing each other. I tried to destroy them at first, but it didn't work, they were repairing each other to quickly and dodging my shells as well. after a few mins of this 1 US AT guy helpt me attack them, which worked quickly. as soon as they were destroyed, I raced with my tank up the street and down the ramp, heading towards the chemical factory. I had almost crossed the river, when I realized I was the only one that had moved on from the hotel. That street was clear, and I'm sure some one must have seen my fat tank ass moving on, but only 1 spec ops guy was heading my way, but he had been going along the east wall. So I picked him up, hoping that we could take a flag. headed to the chemical factory. started taking the flag, then mec arty was dropped on us, and that tank and APC I blew up a minute ago, were heading out for the fight, but made a stop off to finish me and the guy. US didn't take any more flags that round.

I realized that a tank especially is not the vehicle to take a base alone in, or even with 1 person. A APC is better, but mostly you need to help the infatry out, so they will be coaxed into moving on to another objective, and thus clearing out AT guys for you, and helping against other armour.

I also avoided playing alone, even one or two buddies on voip makes it all the better. I've played with alot of good random people, and as time goes on commanders and squad members will use the ingame VOIP more and more. however stuff like the karkand hotel is why I try to avoid playing with out friends. Though I think it's just that area, on that map, people seem to be willing to go for all the flags even on urban maps. I don't see mec spending all their time at the city enterance on sharqi.

Sometimes I play Karkand to win, other times to work on the awards. You'll probably get a miix of this every round. It's not because players don't know how to win, they just don't care about it all the time.
Yeah... hey, Karkand is kinda better for farming eh? ah well- I still like to play Karkand for its objectives.

Karkand is so predictable, you always know your going to get armour whores raping you like theres no 2moro in an alley, then a bunch of guys who try to run around the right, along the edge of the map to try a sneak round back, then your always going to have an APC run straight through everyone to the suburb and take that.

Then the arty, in the same place all the time, you would of thought some poepl actually have the brains to wait or move away from big explosions or the sound of arty! it really does puzzle me!

Then once all of the front is done and you only have the back bases left, it going to be back and forth all the frigging time on the train crash bridge! more arty, more rockets, more tanks and **** yeah! mor ****ing medics to the rescue, your snipers of the balcony near gatehouse and a few people trying to swim across!

It is always sop predictable, it gets boring. i have to play it like once a day know, morr than that and your pushing it!

I am sorry to say but alot of people actually know this.
If you go to the east island and cap the flags you get around 15 points.
If you spawn at our spawn points near hotel, in the same amount of time you can get double that. I dont do it to get some flag captures, I do whatever I need to get more points.

Re: You mean there's more to Karkand than the Hotel?

Sometimes its a mofo biatch to get past the front defense line of MEC .

If we have enuff guys online and on MEC and feel liek teamplay ( you know sometimes i also just wanna barge in and shoot for teh hell of it ) we usually divide our squad(s) over 2 defensive points and attack whenever its calm . Kill a few waves of sneaky USA folks and they often stick to teh Hotel area or set a engi/ammo armor squad at teh entrance to prevent any armor commin thru and its veryhard for usmc to get thru .

having yer commander on TS helps also

Kia that does help mining the area. Except sometimes you can only hold them off for so long. 1 Artillery strike and then the armour pushes through and then you cnat mine behind them hoping they go back :P

Re: You mean there's more to Karkand than the Hotel?

I play Karkand because the fight is there and it's challenging to actually play well on a large Karkand map. Hopping around flags is not something I'm particularly interested in doing until the other team starts up on it.

What you people need to realize is that people will play to have fun. For some, having fun means hopping around flags and winning the round. For others, it means getting as many kils as possible. For others (like me), it means getting the best K/D ratio possible.

What you're complaining about is a flaw in Conquest mode, not in the players.

It's funny that you complained about this though... joining 21CW seems like the thing for you to do. Pub gameplay has its limitations when it comes to playing the game it was meant to be played.

True but thats where TS comes in handy and you can shout to yer friends to respawn as an engi on foot :p

At times its boring ok but god how often i log on hoping just to have that nice round of fighting at teh hotel/square area after a days work .

                              Heh, well said Spetsnaz.

As soon as the mines disapear, I know myserlf If I wait to long they will be back. So I just push through. Then its already too late. The best thing you can do is mine up to the suburb, doing that though you get these IDIOTS who see the mines yet still drive over them. That lets the armour in and you lose -4 points.
