Depends if you like SMGs. If you like the basic SMGs, the P90 is a bit better. I like the DAO myself (my most-used weapon).

If FN2000 gives more amor, I will choose that one. Can I leave the 2nd choice out for another months or so?

It doesn't give you more armor than any of the other assault guns, just a flash-bang grenade. As Twisted- said, you can leave the other choice however long you want.

The first time I got my unlock, I took the DAO-12 and L85A1. The second time, I took the PKM and the G3. Where do I check the history of my unlock?

Now this is two posts that you have implied that you have received two unlocks at each time (time being promotion?).

Et al, am I missing something here. I only get one (actually less than) unlock per promotion.

Also, I am a Staff Sergeant(6951), and it would seem based on the ranks from this web site that I have been promoted 5 times, yet I have only had the opportunity for 4 unlocks. Can someone explain this to me, is this by design?

Another thing, I have purchased (and installed of course) BF2:SF, yet I can't unlock the G36E, the medic second unlock. I have already unlocked the L85A1. Do I have to unlock all of the basic unlocks for every single class just to unlock one SF weapon?

You have installed SF but have you RUN it using the same BF2 account on a ranked server? Once you play at least a few minutes of SF you should get 2 unlocks per rank and have access to the 2nd tier of unlocks for each weapon that you have the 1st unlock for.

The best "rule of thumb" I have for unlocks is take the unlocks for the kits you play the most. My first unlock was the G3, but I never played Assult. If you play the kit, or you think you are going to be playing a specific kit till the next promotion, then get the unlocks you will use/need the most.

I would always recommend the G36E and the L96A1. But, those are second tier, so I think you burn an unlock getting to those.
