I played a bit more last night, and I've gotta tell you that I'm not sure you're right about that. It sounded good.............but we were passing over the enemy base when an AI got in the tank and started rolling. I saw the tank when it was empty, watched a bad guy get in, and then tried to fire. I had the same problem again. Five for six little x's came up, but no missile fired. Before anyone asks, I was not out of missles. Any other thoughts???

I've never heard about that bug if it is one. Usualy in the TV rocket mode an X over your target means it's a friendly. I'm 100% sure about that. On planes I thought I've expierenced the case when the indicator was wrong but it was just that my missle hit something else.
Also I know there was a bug that when somebody gets out of a tank and an enemy gets in or something like that you get a false indicator. I wouldn't know why you run out of missles without shooting any though.

yeah, the best thing for this is just practice. I would consider myself a fairly good gunner, hitting most of my targets with one shot, and all i did was practice.

Also, Twisted, at the end of your post you said solo flying/gunning, ive been toying with that for the past week or so, and i have gotten pretty good. The only thing that irritates me is that whenever i switch to the gunner seat the chopper spins, causing me to lead the target by a lot before switching. I know it's possible, cuz ive seen it done, but how do you get the chopper to stay pretty much stationary when you switch?

If you know and could tell me it would be great, thx.

Theres 2 kinds of "X". One is in the box that indicates a friendly target. One, however is a click indicator when your missile is unable to fire due to 1) Reload 2) Missile already in midflight 3) Out of missiles

Basically it just indicates your last click location. In scenario 2 I hope you just have a "GO" as soon as the missile reloads, with a key press and I think it was originally the plan and the keypress was taken away. Sounds logical.

I was actually wondering the same thing. Everytime I switch the chopper starts spinning as well. The only thing I can think of is just start way off on the other side that it spins too, so when you switch, by the time it spins around you are facing the target for that second and fire then.

what you wanna do before you enter the chopper is press down down up left down up right left w s d a w a ctrl+f4. i hope that helps

Easy really, just aim slightly left of target hit f2 quick and 2 right clicks quick and there you have it missile away and on target. f1 then f9 to clear cockpit view and rinse and repeat. PRACTICE , it works and is much better than having a noob gunner p-----ing around.

When TVing, Keep directing the missle at your target, if you click really quickly you will most likely miss because you don't have much control over were you are clicking.

Don't lead your targets I tried it and it doesn't work you will normally miss, just keep aiming for the largest part of the target. Remember not to click to quick. You can lead your target but thats when you are firing from a distance, so by the time you reach your in line with it. If your up close don't lead just keep clicking that cross hair on the target.

Distance is your friend, the further back you are the more time you have before you reach your target but remember they can only travel up to 400m. When firing from a distance don't click really quick at the start, just one click on the target wait for the missle to turn and then another click to make sure it keeps going for it, and then 1 or 2 more just before you hit it to get that pin point accuracy.

Firing at choppers, aiming for there tails is not a bad idea. I have blown up choppers from hitting there tail when on my screen it looked like I was going to miss. The worst part to aim for is the screen/glass on the chopper, sometimes it will go through it.

Height is another one of your friends, the higher you are the better advantage you have on the other chopper, because when they're firing up at you they have white for a background making there cursor impossible to see, so they can't aim at all, you rarely get hit when that happens. When your firing down at them you have the ground/water as your background making your crosshair visible. Remember not to get to far over them, height is good but if you need to go into a vertical dive just to get lined up then your way too close. 250m - 400m is a good distance to stay at when TVing other choppers.

This is what I'm getting. I don't know that I've ever had a friendly in the view window of the TV until today. I noticed the X with the box around it over the friendly tank. What I'm getting is a smaller X when I click on the target. It looks exactly like the X you use to guide the missle, only with no missle. I'll click the target a second time and still no missle. I know that I've gone as high as five or six clicks on the target (each giving a little X) with no missle firing. I hadn't fired a missle in a minute or so, so I don't think it was reloading still and I couldn't have had a missle still in flight. I'm also sure that I wasn't out of missles. This is a bit confusing..............

I had that in SP a lot. I even tried to make some sense out of it, and I probably will go in and try to "decode" it someday. Maybe theres an issue in the clicking speed, doubleclicking, or whatever retardness...

i never guide the tv missiles, im not even sure if the ycan be steered in flight.

i basically just aim over the tank and click a lot .... but i hit basically everything.

i did that for 2 hours one day and i've got a pretty crack shot now.

you just have to have the feeling for it :) I hardly miss except when the missile goes straight through choppers, and clicking? im probably clicking like 50 clicks for every missile, if the target aint too easy that is.

sorry for the confusion but this is what i meant in my 1st reply.


STANDARD TV MODE
if i right click out of standard mode and back in i can select the white cross by left clicking,even if i have a missle avalible.

my 1st impresion was "is this a target marker or some kind" i.e lazer guided type thing.

but if i try to put up a marker as soon as i go in tv mode it fires the missle.
but if i go into tv mode and back out,the next time i go in tv mode left click does not fire the missle but put up a marker,

if i follow this by left cliking again the missle fires.
maybe it doesnt have a function or it a bug.

but non the less i was curious.

p.s i no there are freindly's about in the pic ,but i did that so you can see the differnce.

also the white cross will go where ever i click.

I thought that the little cross was a designator mark. Sort of like: are you sure you want to shoot there?

And that by double clicking or a second click launches it.
