"Future War Laser PEW PEW Game" REALLY doesn't appeal to me at all. I like a modicum of realism wrt real world setting etc, I know that I won't be buying it. I'm not saying that its going to be a load of rubbish, just that its not for me. I have a feeling that those players that like BF1942/BF2 won't really enjoy the total change that 2142 will be. just my tuppence

that's how i feel, i think it's going to target a different kind of player.

im assuming most of you played battlefield 1942 and was a great game, but when bf2 came out i personally thought it was better than bf 1942 so i slowly stopped playing the old 1942. i wonder if this shall also be the the story of battlefield 2 in which people will stop playing it because the new one, bf 2142, might be better. so will you forget about bf2 once the new one is out?

actually BF42 is seeing a resurgence right now, many burnt out on bf2 and tired of waiting for fh2 and poe3 have reinstalled bf42 and are playing it again, in fact my team =IMO= is bringing up a bf42 server up next week because of the resurgence of interest in it.

From the little I've read on BF2142, I will be sticking with BF2. Who really knows though...

Most will abandon the Battlefield 2 for the new one. I know I will when I get it. But for most people to do so, of course, it will take time. Things just don't happen over night.

Actually i have done quite a bit of research thru polling on various forums on this subject and it appears EA may have miscalculated the market, 70% of current BF2 players when polled said no way to bf2142 as it is too much of a departure from the BF series, if they wanted future wars they would just play starwars quake ect ect , now as for bf2 life the mods will carry bf2 on for quite a while and before i didnt consdier them as part of bf2 but i will say since u need bf2 installed to play the mods they are part of the family though i doubt anyone buys bf2 just for the mods, they generally find out about them later, except for maybe die hard fh and poe'ers still playing the origianl mods from bf42, they may buy bf when the new mod versions are released for bf2

in closing..EA you owe the modders pay up they keep this series alive

i think it depends on whether or not EA continues supporting BF2.....

i personally, am not feeling the whole futuristic battlefield theme...

I dont know yet, maybe i will, but, i want some more info on it first!

And i also want more maps (FREE RANKED MAPS) in patches for vanila BF2!

This game from what I've read is not going to be BF2 in the future. It's going to be a leaner version, with less wepons, less unlocks, less ranks, 4 Kits, and such. That's from memory. I wish I had the link to the interview.

Personally everything I see about this game leads me to believe it is gonna be a goatsmelling steamy pile. Yeah great flying boxes giant mechs and invisibility. Sounds like the emperor's new BF2 to me.

There are still around 2500 people playing 1942 right now according to csports.net There were lots more before bf2, but that's still a lot of people, and more than enough to find a good game.

Not everyone can afford the latest PC and video card to play games when they come out.
