Plucky, this has nothing to do with the thread, but you have an awesome avatar and sig. :p

Yeah, Wake is good on both sides as there is enough places to sit and wait out the other team.

What?! Karkand is a bad ass map to snipe on. I've racked up more points with a Sniper than I did with an Assault. Heh, well not really but sniping is amazing on karkand if you do it right.

The client-server connections in BF2 are very unpredictable (least for me). There is a slight bullet drop, but not so much it would even come near the 2nd hash on the scope. The lag makes shooting moving targets at over 150m for me if-fy at best, so I'll only try sniping a stationary target over that range.

Mashtuur and Sharqi are amazingly fun to snipe on. Wake is good since you can basically see everyone all the time. Dragon Valley and Daqing are good, as most of the action usually takes place at a select few spawns.

Mashtuur City and Sharqi are my favourites, but try Wake as well. Also, Karkand can be a good sniping map if you go for the medium range kills, use the SVD, and follow a squad.

Take your time, start with the easier shots, (like a prone and still enemy, or one of the clay pidgeons on top of an un-moving tank!).
There is a bit of bullet drop, but only at the longer ranges. Some players say to aim for the neck at ranges under 100m for a headshot...

The biggest factor I have found is latency. I normally ping anywhere from 100-250 depending on the server. At lower pings, it's definitely easier to get those kills. Whenever I've been taken out by another sniper with an amazing shot, even though I've had the drop on him first, I've checked the scoreboard, and they usually have a ping of 15-30!

                Good luck! :)
