Re: Damn mouse cable drags me down!!

I must admit that I am a good shooter at all, but still my corded mouse is held responsible for my shooting in-game.

Is a heavier mouse helpful? I find aiming at distant targets requires micro-scale accuracy which means lighter mice moves too much for locking on to targets.

I just wonder what sort of mouse is the right choice for this game somehow.

Duct tape solution works good, but you'll have to replace the tape every now and then though. You could also try this :

      - detach your mouse and pull the cable free, so it's not tangled or anything.
      - put your mouse and keyboard where you want them to be in your desk
      - loop the mouse cord in one of the keyboards "feet" so that cord is tight from keyboard to computer, and free from keyboard to mouse

As long as you don't have habit of lifting the keyboard, this should work.. you can also easily change the lenght of the tight part (kb->comp) and free part (kb->mouse) if you need to move something around, or if you have too much "free" cord on your desk and it gets in the way.

About which mouse to get, and which weight is "right" ; always use the mouse that feels right. Simple ergonomics is the biggest factor on whether you do good or not - polling rates, dpis etc. come far behind. As long as your mouse doesn't do buggy movements, it's better to get one that feels like it's natural extension of your hand rather than technically better one, that feels like a plastic object you're dragging across the desk.

I got the logitech G5 mouse which is excellent (its corded tho, but i have a cord holder thingo on my mouse mat). Apparently the G7 (cordless version of G5) is also the u beaut but costly. i can adjust mouse sensitivity on the fly which i have found useful for sniping (down sensitivity) and chopperage (up sensitivity). From past experience taping the cord is good or just weigh it down with something (desk light, 50 CDR box, can of beans, stack of paper etc)

I don't like heave big mice with batteries like the Logitech ones... so I have a Razer Diamondback. It has a really cool mouse cable that's especially designed not to influence your mouse movements. It's thin but rather hard an can be adjusted in it's form to some degree.

But the best is still to come: My custom 1337 happy tree friends mouse cable holder!!

Re: Damn mouse cable drags me down!!

To those who post about cordless mouses/mice (whatever) being too heavy..your right. You'll find most of the top CS players out there stick with a cord because lighter is better.

I finally got a cordless mouse because i'm not that great at aiming anyways and i wanted the convience.

Like some said before, A neat trick is to go ahead and buy a cordless mouse but keep your corded mouse hooked up for when you play a FPS.

My other mouse tip is very hush hush so don't tell anyone :-) Anyway, if you have a 5-star notebook laying around that you aren't using anymore, Cut off the cover and tape it to your desk as a mousepad (inside of the cover facing up). The texture of the 5-star cover is exactly like the one you will find on those $40+ gaming mousepads. Been doing this for 4 years now and works great.

funny subject. Hell what if it's corded and a ball mouse!!
(got a ball-less mouse here). But you know with cordless mice the battery someday will be empty and it most probably will be at a sheit moment. Recently i had to change my keyboard battery while playing bf2! You have to place new batteries and restart the whole game !
Pretty sheit cordless if ya ask meh!

Sorry, I'm broke after buying a vid card so a wireless mouse is not a valid solution for me
I bought a mouse cord holder a couple of days ago, because of that same problem, now no problem.

Re: Damn mouse cable drags me down!!

Ha ya nothing makes me then seeing my little dead battery light start blinking on my mouse while playing BF2. At least the mouse i have has basic recharable AA batteries. Some of the new mice out there have it built in where you cant change them. Just another reason to keep that cord mouse around.

Balls when clean to perfection (dont laugh) are still more accurate then any optical stuff out there.

Ya this topic is about to get move to Off topic.

I also use this mouse. It's nice, but I hate the mouse wheel. Seems too stiff. And the battery life seems terribly short. Thankfully they give you 2 rechargable batteries. One stays in the charger and the other stays in the mouse. When the one in the mouse dies, you can hot-swap in a matter of seconds.

A 2000DPI laser mouse will be the same accuracy as a 2000DPI ball mouse, except you don't have to clean it. Compare the Razer Boomslang and the Razer Copperhead.

I did not know that a mousepad is so important quite honestly. Mine is a cheapy light corded mouse with a quite heavy ball compared to the mouse weight.

I shall get an USB mouse I think with that $40 mousepad.

This is as much as you should spend on a mouse pad

There was a product avalible at RadioShack called "The Clip" that addresses exactly the problem your talking about. It's about $2 and is just a plasic clip that attaches to your desk and allows you to thread your mouse cable through it. Donno if they still sell 'em or not, but you could check it out.

Beyond that, a large binder clip might do the trick.

Hella handy things, they are. I also use 'em to clip my open chip/cracker bags to keep 'em fresh. They also work well as roachclips and ways to entertain your roommate's cat.
