Explode by using the afterburners? LOL that is funny. Don't worry, they only give you quick boost for few seconds, something like N2O (NOS) in a car, if you know what I mean. In real life though, the afterburners make the jet easier target for the AA, I don't know if that's true in the game.

lol...seriously though...it gives you a large boost in speed, don't know if it can make the jet explode as i am mostly on the ground.

It's not the afterburner, its the speed that makes you blow up, but you need to have like 10 full afterburner sessions before that happens.

Ok M8, this is what Burners do for your jet.

F-15 Dry thrust 17,800lbs per engine
          Wet (burners lit) 29,100lbs " "

          F-35 Dry 18,000lbs
          Wet 39,950lbs

          J-10 Dry 17,857lbs " "
          Wet 27,557lbs " "

          Su-30 Dry 7,600lbs " "
          Wet 12,500lbs " "

There are many variants to each aircraft, so their ratings will change, dont know the variants in Bf2.

Hope it sheds some light on the issue...As far as detonating the jet, not possible, unless u get a missile up you a**hole,
