      is not the same thing as the unifed shaders(?) in dx10. Simply put:
      There is NO card that can physically support dx10, it's simply not possible.

      This isn't like a change between dx8.1 and 9, which was just an addition of code. This is a complete rewrite of the entire graphics subsystem and as such only the next generation of cards will be dx10 capable.

        CinFX 4.0 is a marketing term.

        No current video card support Pixel/vertex shader 4.0, and none support the feature set of DX10. Also DX10 will not run on these parts, but instead use a DX9 fallback API.

        DX9 cards will still run future games because they will have to be hybrids, otherwise the developers will be committing suicide with such a small userbase ... at least initially for the first year or two.

        Bottom line DX10 will be uber cool 2-3+ years from now, but right now nothing supports it, and the OS that it ships with is expected in Q1 2007... not much to see here, move along.
