If you have a 7900GT, are think of getting one, or are thinking of getting a new card sometime soon, you'll want to read this. This also requires not being affraid of your hardware.

Basicly it shows you how the 7900GT and GTX use the same core, except the GT is starved for voltage so it can only reach certain speeds. Increase the voltage and you can easily exceed GTX speeds while still on air cooling.
This applies to all 7 series cards on 90nm, this guide only shows it for the 700GT, and if you look around there are much easier ways of doing it than they show. You'll need water cooling to do it on the GTX though.
