Like I said in the other thread, these are the issues you will have by getting 4 x 512mb of ram. There is really nothing you can do about it except relax your timings and run your ram at or below stock with 2T command rate. I hate to sound like a broken recored, but 2 x 1Gb is the way to go.

The biggest problem with VISTA is make'n it backward compatible with Legacy devices & old 16 bit code. My x64 Windows is stable, fast BUT there is no support for Legacy devices & 16 bit code Ex. the Midi/game port on sound cards will not function in x64 because its a legacy device. 16 bit apps wont run and installers with 16 bit calls fail. BETA testers for VISTA report that it uses 800 Mb just sitting idle

Vista will come in many flavors and will run 32 or 64 bit, I agree the first releases will be borked, and huge system hogs. The biggest problem I see is people getting VISTA for old 32 bit boxes and expecting it to work.

I will wait for a 64 bit ONLY version.

Microsoft has pretty much finished the x64 VISTA its the backward compatability make'n OLD crap work right and make'n it work on cheap x32 boxs (DELL) thats the problem cause'n the delay of the release.

Yeah right now 2 gigs is definitely plenty. So many people think adding more ram is the only answer, when in reality they might not even be using 100% of what they already have and adding more can be overkill and actually bog the system down. The speed is more important (to a degree). The PS3 is supposed to be coming with that 3.2ghz xdr. Damn, 3.2ghz ram... that'll be insane. The PS3 is only going to have 256mb, but at 3.2ghz it will perform better than probably 4 gigs of average speed ram.

from what i read it comes with 256mb of xdr ram the ram is the same speed as the proccessor and works with the proccessor

it also come with 256mb of ddr2 ram 667mhz which does the job ram does in a average pc

and hopefully i will never have to get vista, ever the DRM features are going to make it a horrible operating system.
