Go look at the timings for 512MB sticks, then go look at timings for 1GB sticks.

I wasn't sayng one was beteer than the other, Wreck has said that there are no advantages to 4x512, and I listed one, that is all.

And again, why are you sooooo concerned w/ timings????
He has 2x512 sticks in right now. He's thinking about getting 2 more to make 2GB. If he gets the same stuff as he has now (because mixing sometimes causes instability) then he'll be fine.
You don't need to list advantages/disadvantages because his setup will WORK FINE.
Obviously you guys refuse to hear what I'm saying. Your choice.

Because 4 gigs of ram is pointless, and will continue to be pointless for some time.

having said that , last year i was still trying to convince myself 2gb was pointless until it became obvious to me 1gb of ram wasnt enough for BF2 4gb will become the norm soon enough

Exactly. I would hazard a guess that you will see games requiring 4GB of RAM within the next 3 or 4 years. Just check out the advancement of processors in the last 10 years. I never thought I would see computer processing in Gigs.
