so i have AMD64 3000+, which in PC porperties sometimes it says 1.79 or 2.00 GHZ ( why is that? ) but it really runs like a P4 3.00 GHZ??? is that the reason it says like this in performance tests?

The performance rating is about equal to the old P4 designs, Northwood and Prescott.

Your 3000+ runs at either 1.8ghz or 2ghz depending on if its socket 754 or 939.

If should give equal or greater performance to a 3ghz P4 in almost all applications and slightly worse in others particularly professional content creation software.

Thanks you guys for the support and advice so far I really like and with thinking about what has been said I will probably save up for the better desktops in the future.
