    Artifact problem ( not overheating)

I just got my new mobo, and it's bring hella lot of problems..... sigh andaaa well here's the deal :

when i play cs : source, even on the menu black stripes appear in fractions of seconds every once in a while..... and when i enter the games it's the same and this sometime occurs, like it's bad mapping of the map but it isnt..... and after a 10 minut gameplay the game shuts off...

i only seem to have this in OpenGL games.... so what do i need to do... i downloaded everything i could think of but please tell me because i might forgot something.....It's not overheating, i'm not on an overclock currently... no fried memory or anything everything is working properly....

    Thanks in advance,

cs:s isnt opengl its direct x. the only opengl games I know of are CS 1.6, and Doom3 and quake 4. everything else you'd be playing is direct x including source. update direct x. make sure your temps are okay and your card is getting sufficient power.
what mobo did you get, post a link to it if you can find it on newegg.

sacky is correct, source is a direct 3D game, its probably a driver issue, so check your drivers for the mobo and video card.

ja i read that just after i post this thread sorry about that.... it is getting sufficient power an it isnt doing it in games like battlefield 2 and f.e.a.r and cod2.... they're big refresh lines ( thats the only way i can describe them) and come in a fraction of a second, sometimes those lines are the same colour as the map i'm playing in... after about 10 minuts source most of the times shuts down.....

May be a silly question but...did you do a complete reformat and re-install of Windows XP after installing the motherboard?

Did you download and install the latest official nforce drivers?

LOL , sorry but had to ask

Some people can get REAL lucky (myself included) and install a new motherboard and actually have Windows boot up without a re-install!

I had a similar problem after upgrading my motherboard...and installing motherboard drivers fixed it for me.

Try running the Direct3D tests in DXDiag and see if the problem is reproduced there.

Have you tried downloading and installing drivers for your monitor?

I'd like to see a screenshot of the issue you're having..it's hard for me to visualize.

^yes, uninstal the old mobo chipset drivers and install the newest ones. preferably from nvidia.com, or you can just use the disk that came with them. than uninstall>reinstall the video drivers to be safe. I dont know why it would only do this in source, but who knows. Source is weird for me to, whenever I change the video setting in source, and try to join a game, the ground is always reflective purple, and I think its artifacting but when I close it and reopen it, its good again.
But yes, uninstall old chipset, driver cleaner, install new ones, MAYBE uninstall>reinstall video drivers if you feel the need. and try turning ON vsync and try again.
