Not really new but for those that don't know:

Engineers Intel created the cooling system of computer, which will make it possible to drive away the contemporary processors Pentium Extreme Edition to the frequency into 5 gigahertz without the damage to the damage of equipment because of the overheating. Communication about the development of new system can serve as evidence of the fact that in company Intel they ceased to consider the acceleration of processors as that not admitted.

The new system of the water cooling of computer is called Intel Advanced Liquid Cooling. System is fastened to the central processor, consists of copper nucleus, which interacts both with the processor and from the ensuring circulation water by pump for the control of the speed of flow with a change in the temperature of processor. Water will circulate through the metal tube, in which it will be cooled with the aid of the usual cooling fan.

It is reported that the new cooling system will be extremely effective. Thus, Intel Advanced Liquid Cooling will make it possible to drive away processor with the clock frequency of 3,8 gigahertz to 5 gigahertz, and the temperature of work will be only 62 degree Celsiuss, i.e., it will not represent the risk of the damage of equipment as a result of a critical increase in the temperature.

System will be compatible both ATX - and with BTX- architectures of maternal pays. At the given moment Intel it conducts the active searches for partner for the adjusting of the mass production of such cooling systems. Besides this, due to the use in creation Intel Advanced Liquid Cooling of cheap materials, the system will cost the order of 50 dollars.

amd 64 has awoken the giant intel its been shook to the core by the growing threat of amd and its gonna go all out to crush amd before it becomes more than a big kick up the arse

think of it this was intel make $2 billion profit per year amd a long way off $1 billion that means that intel can spend more on reaserch on this kind of stuff and amd might get blown away next generation

That does suck because AMD is much more effective than intel... people just go with the company that advertises more I guess.

when i built my pc it was my first pc i built, i went with intel becuase of the value factor on this prescott. Also the fact that the P4 was sold in a language i could understand,AMD's at the time seemed to be in all sorts of a muddle with sockets and the numbering system.

mind you this was way before 775's and 939's etc were even thought of as the norm

and i have to say that article has the worst use of the english language i have seen in a long time.

But you didn't go for Intel because you saw a bunch of catchy commercials and magazine ads. You made an informed decision. Most people don't. They let commercials make decisions for them.

I hear what you're saying about the muddle of sockets and numbering systems. That isn't unique to AMD. Intel does it too, but they use names instead of numbers. When I built my rig I'm glad that I was building an SLI box because it narrowed the number of motherboards to choose from. The sheer number of MOBO's & chips to choose from can be daunting.

One word, Dell. Also consumer familiarity. Same reason alot of people buy american cars even though they are for the most part arguably (or have been) unreliable or some other XYZ negative attribute vs a foreign car. Some people only buy in their confort zone or what they "have always gotten".

But the biggest detractor is that Dell only uses Intel.

That's hitting the nail right on the head. Kind of annoys me though. RC did a very funny commercial a few years ago with 2 fishing boats (Coke & Pepsi) catching people (Marlins) with cans of their products. It ended with a dude hanging upside down like a fish with a can sticking out of his mouth while a guy drinking an RC looked at him with disdain. Didn't make me run out and buy a six pack of RC, but it points out how easy people are to catch. There is so much information out there to make informed decisions and it baffles me when people don't bother to use it.

I wouldn't sweat it at this point. Intel has yet to prove a technology edge and they have been behind in that department for a couple of years. Same goes for servers. AMD Opterons are unbelievable performers. I bought my Intel Dual Xeon a few years ago and am thinking about ditching it for a two-way dual core Opteron. I think that AMD has been gaining traction for awhile and they will continue to do so as long as they focus on providing superior hardware architecture at a superior price. Don't count on the Apple macintels being that much of a factor in a demise of AMD, unless they can include decent virtualization software so they will run PC software in addition to MacOS software. Until then the Macs are a niche market as they have been for years.

Before someone screams that I'm an AMD fanboy let me mention that my current AMD is my second one (first being a 1Ghz Athlon). All of my other boxes (laptop, desktop and servers) have always been Intel. I just feel like Intel has spent too much of their focus on pursuing clock speed instead of hardware architecture at the expense of heat. They have admitted that their initial efforts at dual core are a hack job just to get a product in the market. That is just plain stupid. They should have waited until they had something worth selling. I think that they have put their efforts in the right direction (if you believe what we're hearing), but I'll believe it when I see it.
