i would mabe cut down on the video card and wait for dx10...you can play most games on high with a 6800GT anyways...this will let you increase the lifespan of your comp.

After a couple years of vista when the majority of the games go to DX10 I will consider getting a new DX10 card and setup but for now I want one of the top DX9 cards :) so I can enjoy the eye candy of BF2 flawlessly. Also, vista will support DX9 so I'm not worried
And in regards to the Floppy Drive I use it alot. I'm taking courses at NIC (North Island College) and I use the Floppy disks to save homework on(essays etc.) so if I need to fix anything I have it with me.

Plus, don't forget about shipping if you're getting it online, and don't forget about store overhead if you're buying it at a store. Is it prebuilt or are you building it yourself?). Edit: You don't need a $600+ card to play BF2 with all the eye candy. My current videocard was my cheapest out of three over the past 5 months ($350 USD including my SLi mobo, it was a combo deal that's still available) and I play at 1600x1200 @85hz resolution, all settings on high, audio on ultra high (XFI mode), AA off ingame and 4X in nVidia control settings. I average 80-100fps and never dip below 70 in vanilla bf2. I never dip below 50 on Special Forces. Just something to think about.

It's actually the cheapest on the west coast of BC, Canada because If I were to buy it on my Island it will be 20-30% more. The shipping cost is exactly $80.00 (via Purolator 1-4 business days anything faster and it's $120+) the price I put in there is the exact cost they give me before I put in Credit card number. Yes I'm getting it prebuilt, it only costs $50 for full assembly and testing. It's free if it's over $2000.

Yeah I didn't forget that. Unfortunately I can only respond with USD since that's what I spent. I'm just offering advice, he'll have to do the work of converting =P
Anyway, in USD a 512mb version of the X1900 (I don't think they even make the 256 anymore. Still available but no new stock that I'm aware of) costs $580USD. Without my motherboard this videocard costs $300USD. Almost half the cost.

I have a G5 mouse and the 50 doesn't bother me because my original budget was $1600 so I've surpassed it with the $1875. You still pay the taxes when going threw BC customs in Vancouver.
