Do you know anything about computers? The 3700+ runs at 2.2 GHz and has 1MB L2 cache. The 4000+ runs at 2.4 GHz and has 1MB L2 Cache. They are both San Diego cores and have the same overclocking. A 4000+ is not almost a FX57, 400 MHz short. :shakeheadOriginally posted by sackynutnot really, the 4000 is basically an fx 57, almot. the 3700+ is like an OCed 3200+Comment

Got a question for you, what would you consider better the 3800,4000 or 4200? I think the 4200 seems to be pretty good for the money costs.Originally posted by i made youDo you know anything about computers? The 3700+ runs at 2.2 GHz and has 1MB L2 cache. I have got the 3700+. It is a very good overclocker for a lot less money compared to the 4000+
The only difference between the 3700+ and the 4000+ is the preset. 3700+=200*11 and 4000+=200*12. But they have both 1024 kB L2 cache.
I have got the 3700+ and with aircooling only I managed 3,1 gHzComment

With the 3800 and 4200 I'm assuming you're talking X2 chips. I would go for the 3800 at this point since you can get one for $280 USD and the new steppings overclock well. The 4200 is also good if you don't plan on overclocking.Originally posted by Eternal-SouljahGot a question for you, what would you consider better the 3800,4000 or 4200? I'd say wait dont upgrade your pc yet because AMD2 is coming around the corner and you will regret if you spended your money on this and couples of months later you will be obliged to get amd 2 to play the latest games..Comment

AM2 will cost a lot more at release. If you decide to go that route, it's best to wait 6 months when the prices will have dropped and you know what processor and board to buy.Comment

Re: Amd athon 64 3700+ vs. x2 3800+ vs.4000+
Fastest for games would be the 4000+, but the best value would be a 3200+. Games rely on the graphics card more so than the CPU.
If i were in your shoes, get an X2, even if you dont heavily multitask its nice to be able to have AIM, Xfire, Norton AV, Browser windows, and ventrillo open in the background while you play games etc...
Dual core is the future, you sacrifice a few FPS but you stand to gain alot.Comment

Yea a lot of people say to get x2 3800+ and i'll probably get it. Here's another thing which mobo should i get. i have no idea about mobos. I'll get the x1900xt and maybe in the future the crossfire edition. I already looked at the dfi ultra-d and asus m8r-mvp. some people said that they had problem w/ these mobos. MY budget is $170. My total budget for the pc is $1500.Comment
