    Running BF2 on high

So its about time I traded in my old setup (2x256mb) (amd athlon 2500+ 2.8ghz) (ATI sapphire radeon 9600pro) for a new setup here is what im getting.

    evGA e-Geforce 7800gt 470mhz copper heatsink
    AMD64 3700+ 2.2ghz San Diego CORE
    2x1GB OCZ El Platinum 2-3-2-5
    Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 120gb HD SATA2

Now I know ima be able to run BF2 on high but im excited as heck!:) And I want to know what BF2 on high looks like (close up and far) If someone could take ss! I could only run BF2 on low and 75% view distance on my old computer with a little bit of stuttering! please help me

Just go in the game and put it on high even if you get 1 frame per second it will look nicer than a screen shot. And you will know what it looks like.

SATA2 what the hell is that?

Im thinking of getting a new system and mine is running everything on high except the light one! but you need a monster to run that.

I think over the summer i'll keep this rather good machine and then sell it on to a friend as it will be two years old in november them buy the next one top of the line although i'll take my SB X-fi card out this one.

i take it that dual core the cpu? i've gota AMD 64 3400+ with a 6800Gt 256mb card and it will do till this new cpu tech comes out. there is a lot of new stuff coming so that why im waiting

See, that is the problem. You really dont need a montser to do it.
I am running everything on High with 4x AA (Recent switch from 2x) and still maintain a solid 60fps. (At 1024x768)

When i jump up a res setting... I average 50-55
(My specs are below and it is anything BUT a monster.)

I have seen faster setups complan that they are stuck on medium.
It is eiter coding, bogs, background issues on the users system.
But I have read many a post of 'monster' systems running in only med.

My machine runs on a 19 TFT so im on 8xS on the AA on 1280 by 1024 the sound is on the best it can be on my Xfi card and and I have everything maxed just except the second light option, I can have it on Max but to make sure its good online I choose to have it on med.

The lighting option does take a hit on the fps even with me getting 50-60 (locked)

My machine runs it very well, the game sounds great and looks great but online I just like to help it anyway I can and in truth that dynamic lighting I could not see much difference.

I have the same setup as you Cyberduck, and BF2 runs absolutely fine with all settings maxed out.
            I get constant 85-100fps@1280x1024
I have never ever had one single framedrop since I built my new system :)

Yes, it's like a different game on high. I don't know how my lower spec'd friends can even put up with it

..and no wonder there are occasional threads about 'how much bf2 sucks compared to game x' when they're running on medium or low.

It's a beautiful game...sometimes if I only have a few minutes, I'll just play around on an empty local server and just enjoy the view
