hehe o yea. i have a 9200 right now by vision tek. and im getting 50 fps CONSTANT. because i overclocked my northwood to 2.2 That made a huge difference!only have 512 mb system memory too. all medium except no dynamic stuff or aa.

X1600 > 6600 Gt, A few more pipes and tis newer. As others have said, for a few extra dollars, you'll get a great gain with the GS.

no u dont! u got normal 6600 256mb! i get 60-90fps on bf2 all max with my 6600GT getting 7800GTX next year

YOU LIE! the card only has 128mb of graphic memory how can get get 60-90 fps when i struggle with 40 lol

the 3Dmark 05 Scores for both cards are

6600 GT - around 3200
X1600 Pro AGP - around 3700

ATI cards have better support for HDTV so thats also a reason i'm getting a X1600 pro

okay the x1600:
more pipes
more memory
better, newer chip

6600gt:
less pipes
older (but still okay) chip
ddr3 memory (better for OCing)

both have 128bit memory, but that doesnt make much of a difference, because they BOTH have it. of course, for like 40$ more you can get the 6800GS with all this other good stuff, but between those two the x1600.

also, with a 2.2 northwood, and a 9200 at medium settings I CAN TELL YOU you are not getting 50fps, im sorry.

Don't rely on 3dmark05 scores. Benchmark sites had the X1600Pro at 5400 points, which is better than my vid card, but my vid card is undoubtly superior to a 1600Pro. SOmehow it's just htat ATi's X1xxx gen cards are all very good at 3dmark benchmarks. ok maybe i lied:p all low except texture and effects on high. 800x600 100% distance. still good enough for me until i order my card tommorow. btw thanks for the help everyone!
also ordering 2 gig elixir ram tommorow.:)

More like 45 bucks difference , the Pro goes for 111 bucks at newegg.com, the XT goes for 155, not that much difference. Anyways, both of them use a 128bit memory interface, so there can't be much difference, since that's holding the two cards back. So i would suspect a X1600Pro to have 3dmark05 scores of somewhere around 5000. Anyways, if the X1600Pro is really that much worse, than there is NO reason whatsoever that anybody shouldn't buy a X1600XT instead, cause a 45 dollar difference ain't nothin.

X1600 XT does indeed out perform older series 6 nVidia cards in newer games
why do you even need the tiny little bit of extra FPS in older games
for a budget card its an obvious choice (in canada and china)

6 series also have 128bit interface for a good price
sry about the price dif i was talking about canadian currency

ofcourse if anyone want good performance and have some green in their pocket... X1600 is total trash, i'm quite sure it will be like what 9600 is now in 2 years
