I am very pleased with my dual 10K Raptors configured in RAID 0 but this did not help with faster load times in BF2.

I found that changing my video settings decreased my load times a lot and did not change the look of my game. It all depends on your video card.

I have an ATI x800xt 265MB video card. I changed all my video settings to off or low except for AA where I keep at 6X. My game still looks amazing and plays great.

Get 4 10,000rpm hard drives. One for your OS, one for pagefile, one for programs and one for BF2.

It will defenetly run a lot faster then.

If you dont want to go down that route then get 2 hard drives, one OS and one storage.

2 x SATA 2 10k raptors configured in Raid 0 would probably be a more realistic option for top performance

I have 2x 10,000 RPM raptors in RAID 0 (stripped RAID for speed) they are the 37Gb versions. In 64 Player maps on average im about 3rd to load.

But I learned recently that RAID 0 deosn't do a great deal for game loading times, its file transfer rate is a lot higher but that doesn't always translate into game loading.

HOWEVER the larger drives (storage space wise) are inherently faster, obviously because inside the drive its writing to multiple platters in parallel. A single 74 Gb Raptor beats 2x 37Gb in RAID 0 and theres now a new 150Gb Raptor out

So if you want the best I'd have to advise the Western Digital 150Gb Raptor 10,000 RPM, no need for 2 in RAID to be honest, you'll be the first to load I can gurantee.

Just checked on www.scan.co.uk and they're £200 with VAT, tempted to sell off both my my 37gb ones and get 1 of these bad boys.

I have a 10K Raptor (150GB), cable modem and I'm always one of the first people to enter a round. I'm usuallly at the first cap point when the rest of the players are in.

Ive got a 7200 200GB Seagate HDD, most settings on Medium ~ High and im usually first within the game, no need to go waste money on Raptors.

Anything with a 16mb cache will be the same speed as ANY 10,000 rpm, you will only get about 8ms better search time with a 10,000 rpm drive. Oh, by the way you only need one drive, there really is no difference in Raid compared to 16mb cache.
