    Dualcore or FX57

AMD Athlon FX57 San Diego 90nm or AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+
Ive been advised to get the FX57 but not sure if it would be better to get a dual core...
Can you guys help me with this decision...
    Cheers.
    Sam.

For now take the FX-57 it will be currently the fastest CPU in games it will give you 1-2 FPS more than the 4800+ X2 in BF2. Though for the future take a 4800+ X2, it will beat the FX-57 by miles when the games support dualcore.

The 1-2 is not noticeble and the future advantage will be, it's your choice.

Why spend 1.000$ on a CPU if I may ask?

I agree take the FX57. But if you ever want dual core in the future get an FX-60

I'm gonna wait for a huge price drop before I get an FX chip.

I used to have my eye on the FX57 but the price really hasn't changed enough.

Just get an AMD Opteron and some decent cooling for say 300$ and overclock it to FX-60 speeds or higher. I just saved you at least 600$. Do say thank you

                Cheers

Go dual core, games are dependent on the graphics card much more than the CPU. The ability to multitask and enjoy smooth windows etc.... will be immediate, also there will be a bonus in game performance when multithreaded games start coming out this year and into next year onward...

go dual core, not only does it have two cores, very ready for future, and almost exact gaming performance. trust me.

THANK YOU, somebody has a mind here. Just get a dual core opty for like 500bucks (that should get u like a 2.2ghz one). THen overclock it, on stock cooling, u could probably get to 3 ghz, especially if u have good memory.

Yep, though 3ghz is a tad high, most seem to go up to 2.6-2.8ghz.

It really irks me that you always say probably, you really shouldn't mislead the noobs like that. Yes some have got to 3.0 on air, some with stock cooling, but most havn't.
