I remember reading about 1 terabyte holographic cards coming out in 2007 I think. They are suppose to have faster access read and write time. If I remember correctly.

I'm not getting DX10 until Vista comes out. Waste of money at the very beginning. DX10 games won't come out as soon as DX10 cards come out. Case in point; Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and UT2K7. Both are excellent games, but also DX9.0.

Windows Vista only needs DX9, but I want DX10 for it, since thats when games for it will come out.

Also looking at a Conroe CPU as a possible future upgrade.

Lets a computer run multiple OS's natively at the same time.

If you don't know how it helps you, then it probably doesn't help you.

Vista is looking like a november/december launch if it isnt delayed again.... Summer we will probably see some near final RC candidates floating around.

Arrrg. So should I go Dx10 and then later go AM2. Or wait 'till later and go AM2 and Dx10 all at once? I think I may buy them all at once.

the 7series and x series cards will both be able to run dx10 but DX10 will be coming out with vista!

It will be the same kind of ram, but ideally you will want to replace it. Current DDR2 is shipping at DDR2-400 and DDR2-533 with some overclocker DDR2-667 modules. AM2 will use DDR2-800 and DDR2-667 as a fallback speed. (this is going off the best info we have at this point in time. Simple answer is it will probably work, but you wont want to use it.)

AM2 will not provide any speed increases until at least 2007 over a s939 system. Also DX10 cards maybe end of this year, maybe early to mid next year..... we just dont know that much yet. Vista will launch at the end of this year incooperating DX10, but DX should be backwards compatible, its not as if your 7800 will just stop working, further more DX10 games wont be out in mass until probably 2008ish...

If your running the system in your rig, you dont want to upgrade anything IMO. The only thing would be a better video card sometime later this year if you must.
