I think you'd be better off getting a kick-ass graphics card for now as you would see more of a gain from that. BF2 is not CPU intensive and you'd notice little difference between your P4 and an AMD.
Buy a new processor later on when yours' is showing its age.

I am currently UN_employed. I am trying to sell my paintball gun . When/if I sell it I will have enough for this. Thanks guys for the help/opinions. To the guy above who suggested a new video card. Its not going to happen anytime soon as I just shelled out 250 US for my 6800GT 2 weeks ago. ****es me off to because The day I get my card is the day I hear about the 7800 GS for the same freaking price GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Anyone here feel like buying me computer stuff?:p

Why not return it. I am assuming where you bought it from was a retailer with a standard 30 day return policy. If not, sorry to hear that, man.

I don't know what is up with your friends' cpus, because mine gets in the 1080s.
But to the original poster, getting an AMD 3500 or 3200 would be a good idea, and both can overclock pretty well with the stock heatsink+fan.

Your P4 650 is overclocked ~150mhz and 350mhz higher than my friend's and I'm assuming it has the 2mb L2 cache. His might be scoring lower because of heat issues that his processor seems to be giving everyone who has bought one. I mentioned my friends' intels because of the price, yours isn't comparable because you bought an aftermarket heatsink and it already cost almost $100 more. I was comparing my stock heatsink/fan-equiped AMD that cost me $200 total, to the celeron that had a thermaltake aftermarket heatsink, and a $215 price comparable Intel my friend has. I have gotten mine up to 2750mhz windows stable but heat is an issue at that point. I could almost buy watercooling and push this CPU waaay further for the price difference between your P4 650 and my AMD... and I game primarily with this machine, which AMD does much better than Intel in most instances. 3dmark06 seems to be weird about CPUs, favoring larger caches, HT, and Dual cores... something BF2 and just about every game on the market doesn't need. My AMD system scored over 500 points higher with the same Gfx card on the much more practical 3dmark05 :p
