    OC'ing (Yes i read the other post)

    Hey guys, i cant seem to get my CPU over 2Ghz, its stock is 1.8hz. The PC just wont boot.

    Here are the stats from Everest.

    Motherboard Name Gigabyte K8VM800 / K8VT800 Series

    Temperatures
    CPU 39 °C (102 °F)
    Seagate HD SATA 39 °C (102 °F)

    Cooling Fans
    CPU 3444 RPM

    Voltage Values
    CPU Core 1.42 V
    +3.3 V 3.20 V
    +12 V 11.71 V
    DIMM 2.59 V

    If you need anything else, just say the word.

    Thats the idle temp as well, and stock cooling.

    Also, about the voltages, what is good? I have no idea on the volts for everything.

    I fixed the problem, but i would still like to know about all the volts and stuff is someone wouldnt mind telling me.

        the 3.3 V and the 12 V , don't wurry about them, these aren't important for OC'ing, it only gets important when your PSU would not have enough power anymore, and you can push up the 12 V rail for example, but this is only possible with expensive PSU's and those mostly just deliver the power .

        the 1.4 V is the voltage over your cpu, and this is an important one, but not always .

        it works like this , you OC your CPU, it will consume more power, power is Amperes is watts .
        but when you OC more and more the CPU would want to have so much Ampere/ampere it can't get it in time anymore (trying to explain simple here) , so system get unstable , then you could consider to rase the voltage over the CPU to for example 1.5V , then the CPU can use more watts for the same amperes because it has a higher voltage .

        on big drawback on push the voltage is heat, when turning up the voltage the temperatures will start rising more then you think and you will need other cooling stuff, or just burn your cpu .

        the DIMM is the voltage over your ram , same story as for the cpu

        so don't turn up the voltage if your system runs stable OC'd, only when you get an unstable system when OC'd and the temperatures are still very good, then you could consider turning up those voltages

          Adjustable voltages:

          CPU Core 1.42 V : The core voltage of your CPU. For your processor you'll want to stay below 1.5volts on stock cooling.

          DIMM 2.59 V : This is your Ram voltage. Most newer modules do not requre ram voltage increase to achieve overclocks. Leave this be.

          PSU rail voltages:

          (These are not adjustable from software. There may be pots inside your PSU you can turn with a screwdriver to adjust your rails.)

          +3.3 V 3.20 V : This is the 3.3volt rail on your PSU. You will want to keep this around 3.3v, but more important see that it doesn't fluctuate.

          +12 V 11.71 V : This is the 12volt rail on your PSU. You will want to keep this around 12v, but more important see that it doesn't fluctuate.

          There are many things that can affect your overclock. I would try this:

          CPU voltage 1.45v
          CPU: 240 x 9 = 2160
          RAM: 5:4/333 divider @ 240 = 200mhz (stock speed)
          HTT: 240 x 4 LDT = 960mhz

          Let us know how that works out.

            Thx, wreck, i cant find anywhere in my BIOS to OC my RAM, or lower the timings, all i can do it chang ethe FSB, multiplier (max is 9) and yea.. thats about it.

              dude just take it step by step with the bios setthing iven if you have to restart 60 times....(make sur your multiplier is at 10X)

                Yea i am, im only changing it a few mhz each time. and i cant set the multiplier higher than 9. It just wont let me... like it doesnt have an option for it.

                  Because thats the max multiplier for that CPU. AMD's are downward multi unlocked, not up.

                    You can't overclock your RAM seperately. When you raise your FSB/HTT, your RAM speeds increase as well. You can only lower your RAM speeds by setting dividers, which as the name sounds, divides the speed by what ever divider you pick. You only do that if your RAM is erroring out and you can't raise the vdim anymore.

                    Also, check to see if your board has SATA locks. Anything over 220MHz and your harddrive will start to get corrupted. If you don't have a SATA lock, then you might be stuck at a max of 220MHz HTT.

                      Yeah, and Nforce 3 boards don't have a Sata lock on their 1&2 ports. Try ports 3 or 4. What motherboard do you have?

                        I can get my FSB to 222 Mhz, but thats it, as you said anything over that will get my HD corrupted, and because of that i have had to re-install windows, so i dont want to try it anymore unless i can find out if its... SATA locked... If it is, how to i find out and/or unlock it?

                          Another thing, i tried bringing back the volts on the CPU and DIMM, and it has had no effect on the stability, so im now running at these temps and volts...

                            IIRC the VIA chipsets don't have a lock on the PCI/SATA clock, so it looks like you probably stuck as far as you can go. I could be wrong but I don't think I am.

                              Darn, so would it be my CPU or my motherboard that is holding me back? If you think its the mobo, then i will prob save up and get a new pc, as this is a AGP one, and my graphics card is.. well old, (doesnt even have a fan or sensor on it).
