BIOS expert and OC exper please help

I got my computer to 2.5ghz the other day. And it was running fine. I turned off my computer and the next morning I woke up, turned it on, and my OC was lost. My memory dividers were reset and my HTT was back at 200. Yet, my Boot order was the same.
I asked some people and they said my CMOS battery died, but then how would you explain my boot order being the same? this has happened once or twice a while back with more minor OCs. Would anyone know why this happened? Or what I can do to solve it?

Would be my first thaught also, the cmos battery who lacks power, or some problem in this circuit .

Now, it could be your boot order was also reset, but your system when it starts up makes an own BOOT order, this could be the same as you where using .

In case, it's not the Cmos battery, there are some bios versions who detect, or think they detect some malfunctions, and then they turn back some values to standard .

For example, when the system in the startup checks the mem , and it finds some error, it turns back settings like mem devider and HTT .

just run a prog memtest (search google) , for cheacking your mem on errors, also when it runs OC'd , when this is OK, check some temps when OC , if this is OK , well, then in your bios (It will be there ) search for fast start up function (don't know how it will be called in your case) , and enable, then most checks are just not done while starting up, this way the system won't see the errors (or the errors the system thinks) and will keep your settings.

When encountering problems, you can still do a cmos reset

I also get more repeating sounds in more programs, and longer ones in Bf2. I have always had repeating sound when I was booting up limewire. But today, I was using itunes, I was boting up limewire. and it actually did repeating sound so much that limewire closed itself and said there was an error with the program.

As i said, use memtest prog, probably your ram can't handle the OC, or is just failing

What are your temps at full load when OC'ed? You probably OC'ed a lil too high. Also, what do you do to test for stability?
To find your max CPU OC, first go into BIOS and set you CPU multi to 8. Then raise you HTT up 5 increments and check for stability using Prime95 and SuperPi (google it) for about an hour *make sure you monitor temps*. Once it's "Prime" stable, reset, and increase your HTT 5 increments. Keep doing this until.. 1-you can't load windows, 2-you fail Prime.
If you hit any of these errors, you can either up the vCore or decrease HTT 1-2 increments. I would suggest setting the vCore @ 1.55v before you start. That way you don't have to keep upping the volts whenever you crash. And I would not go any higher than 1.55v. Remember to always run Prime for 1 hr minimum between each increment. Once you find you max 1 hr Prime stable, run Prime again for 8 hours. If it passes the 8hr torture test, you found your max CPU OC. And remember to monitor temps during Prime/SuperPi

What are you exact settings in bios? Im assuming:

250mhz x 10 = 2500mhz ?
LDT: x 4 ?
Ram: 1:1 @ 250mhz ?

voltages?

If you only have a 166/333 ram divider and want your ram as fast as possible try:

278 x 9 = 2500
LDT: x 3
Ram 1:1 @ 232mhz

If you only have a 166/333 ram divider and want your ram as fast as possible try:

278 x 9 = 2500
LDT: x 3
Ram 1:1 @ 232mhz

my ram is running at 133mhz plus about 40mhz (from adding to the HTT) so around 170mhz. My voltages: ddr voltage 2.7 (lowest). chipset voltage 1.5 (lowest) CPU voltage +10%. about 1.5 - 1.52. (according to CPU z).

doing as you said above would make my FSB drop to 870. Wouldnt this hurt some performance a little?

o yeah, I have super pi and prime95. And I havent failed either yet, but I didn run prime for very long at all. As for my temps, well, my motherboard BIOS aint so good, and the temp moniter built into the mobo doesnt work. You need to flash the BIOS to a more current version to get it to work. I dont have a floppy drive as of right now -_-

Ok, so you are running?

CPU: 250 x 10 = 2500mhz
Ram: 3:2 = 166.6mhz

Increase your chipset voltage by .1 v. Increase your CPU core voltage by .25 v. Leave ram stock since it's under spec. Why are you running your ram so slow? You can easily have a 333 divider and be at 208mhz.

Running your HTT below spec does not hurt performance, but don't do what I suggested. I was thinking you were running ram 1:1.

It will stabilize your motherboard at higher bus speeds. I would think that at 250mhz you definetly need a voltage increase. You can't adjust your base voltage for your CPU? There should be a base voltage of 1.4v for instance and the percentage is added to that. You need to increase that base voltage to 1.425 or something.

I dont find any "Base voltage" only the CPU voltage percent that I told you about.

so, my FSB is at 1000mhz because the multi is 4x, which is the default FSB, should I still increase the chipset voltage? and, if its still not good, should I bump up the chpiset from 1.6 again to 1.7? (default currently 1.5).

I would say 1.6v chipset is fine. I have mine at 1.6v with 280mhz bus speed.

lol..this happend to me to but only did that when i stayed on 2.5ghz....i really can't remember what i did to fix it but i am sure i did something with the mobo battery....
