Yes a 6600GT will help alot with the graphice, as BF2 does rely heavily on the GPU. I would suggest OC'ing your CPU, that was you can get a bit more milage out of it, and see a bit more of the eye candy, but the RAM will let you down.

It's an emachines, not a homebuilt one. The bios doesn't have that kind of option.

A cheap system, that could then be upgraded at a later date would be something like a...

Socket 939 Mobo (with 4 DIMM's) Pci-e
AMD 64 3200+ or 3500+
6600Gt or 6800GS/800XT
1GB of RAM, in either 512 or 1gig sticks, but the 1x1GB would be better, for upgrading later
A 400Watt (at least) PSU....

Nup, you plug, you install the OS (ie. windows XP or linus.. etc etc...) then you install drivers then you update anti-virus and then play! :p .. simple.. :)

Well damn, you just about built a computer then! The new AMD64's are as simple to build as you just described...even the CPU/grease which is already there.
There isn't much more to it. You don't have to solder anything...it's like electronic lego.

The only "hard" part beleive it or not is installing Windows :) A socket 939 is every noob builders dream.
