New geforce 6600 only running at 8x? (PCI Express card)
Re: New geforce 6600 only running at 8x? (PCI Express card)
the more $$$$ you pay the better the performance, the 6600 isnt THAT great of a card. get the latest driver 81.98 if you dont have them already. and then download 3dmark05 and tell your score. this will help me better tell if your score is right for your rig.
Re: New geforce 6600 only running at 8x? (PCI Express card)
Gees dude, Look to most people here 2 things really matter. First can you play BF2 at a decent frame rate (you decide what that is). Next how good does it look? Most people will tell you that you can run the Bench mark thingy but why?
I used to run a 6600 and now I run a 7800 GT OC and, the 7800 cost over 200 bucks more, The grafix are better but not 200 bucks worth. I can run everything on high with 2x AA and tripple buffering. It looks as good as any photograph my 5 mega pixel camera takes. Still for the money I liked the 6600 better. . . . . .Red
1gb of Coarsair high performanceDDR PC3200 ram running at 400mhz in Dual channel mode.
gefarce 6600
in BF2 anything above 1024x768x32 in "high" quality mode.. will get choppy if I put on 2x FSAA or set the card to high quality insted if high performance..
the cheaper ATI X700 i was running, ran it in 1600x1200x32 just fine.. didnt try FSAA because at that res.. it wouldent matter..
Re: New geforce 6600 only running at 8x? (PCI Express card)
the only difference between the cards is the clock speeds. Each version of the x700 is clocked higher than the 6600, but they both have the same amount of pipelines. So you are saying, you have the same exact computer the only thing you changed was the card? did you uninstall the ATI drivers? did you install the new nvidia drivers? 81.98?
also, no matter how good the x700 did.... you cant spend 110$ on a video card (the 6600) and expect to run at 1024x768 at high settings. Maybe 1024.768 at medium with no AA and POSSIBLY 2xaa if your lucky.
