If you want to buy a stock OC's vid card ,, take the ASUS 7800GTX top , this one is one of the only ones with a good cooler on it, all the other manufacturors just OC but they let the original cooler on it , meaning the card gets hotter then hot .


Also, BF2 not liking OC'd stuff ?? all my stuff is OC'd (CPU, Vid card, memory) , BF2 runs perfectly and without artifacts , but when I play F.E.A.R I get artifacts sometimes

You can look at benchmarks showing X1800XT beat the 7800 GTX (but not the 512MB) but what that bench doesnt show you is the shadow problems and the massive drop in framerate after using the commander screen that ATI cards have.

ATI are still making great hardware, but nvidia has caught up since the 9700 vs 5800 days, and nvidia drivers are way way more stable and less problematic than ATI drivers because 1. the nvidia software team are the best in the business, and 2. more games are developed on nvidia machines, so games just naturally work with nvidia from release day...

Well, BF2 is sensitive to overclocks. For BF2, i run my vid card at 430/1070 (stock 400/980) while on other games, i can run my X800XL at 450/1100. So u CAN overclock, but it's just that u can't overclock ur vid card as much as if u were playing another game, like HL2.

from what I have heard, Factory OCing is better for many reasons. The performance is better than regular OCing, you get better performance and it still runs cool, because the factory accounted for the OC when building it. For example, Im pretty sure a factory OCed xfx 7800gt would perform better than getting a non OCed one and doing it yourself at the same speeds. Or maybe, its the same. But either way bf2 is fine with it!

Factory OC'ing is covered in the warrenty, home OC'ing is not.

Depends on the manufacturer. Evga's warranty covers anything minus physical damage to the card, overclocking or not.

shadow problems and framerate drop after using commander screen? hmm never had that happen. Nvidia drivers more stable? I've never had to roll back a driver w/ my ATI cards.

Awesome, wow, evga has a nice warranty, that means i could overclock it until it just dies, and i'd get a new one, plus, i'm pretty sure it's a lifetime warranty.

Thats one thing i look for, is stable drivers/card. Some people look at the specs and ohhh and ahhh over it, but i dont tend to look at horsepower, i go by majority, reviews, and personal experince. Im getting the 7800GTX no matter what, i wasnt sure if it would be good OC'ing it, so far u guys tell me it is so im gonna get one

Sli sort of works better. it depends on the cards remember...
