Lol, wtf man? Piece of crap? Sounds like someone didn't get the scores they wanted

Anyway, it can be used for bragging rights, but that's not what it's intended for. However, as someone mentioned in a post above; competitiveness is part of the human nature.

Say you buy yourself a new, high-end system, run 3DMark, and get a score of say 8000. When you compare your score to others, running similar systems - you can see how your system is performing compared to theirs.
If you see that most others with a similar system got scores of 12000+, you will now know that something isn't right in your system.
Without this benchmark, you might have gone around thinking your system was top of the line, when infact it is much worse than other systems due to a misconfiguration oss.

Also, it's a great tool for measuring different components against eachother, be it a CPU, GPU, RAM or whatnot. While playing a game for about 1 hour with two different graphic cards might not show too much of a difference (sometimes it's difficult to measure FPS accurately when playing real-time), 3DMark shows you the difference based on a series of calculations set in stone.

I can see why people think it's pointless to brag about 3DMark scores, and therefore call the program BS - but it's actually a very useful tool if you use it for what its intended for; benchmarking, error-searching and comparisons.
