well if you look further up the thread...

    "
Okay, listen carefully, because I will explain it only once. Perform the following steps:

    - Check the Wattage on your PSU, you need at least a 350, but tbh a 450 is the real minimum with your setup!

    - Get the latest drivers for your mobo, soundcard and any secondary equipement you've hooked up

    - Get the G-Xtreme drivers from www.tweaksrus.com , they alone will boost your cards performance by 20-25% and that is no joke. You'll thank me later.

    - Get KILLDISK, a low-level format utility

    - Use KILLDISK to do a low level format aka Setting your Harddisk in the same state when you bought it. It doesn't just erase the directory structure, but actually overwrites all sectors with zero's.

Install Win XP pro. Install all the drivers. And run BF2 and 3DMark at the best settings.

    Cheers"

and by the way even before i started redoing the system drive on my pc it did improve the pefromance, plus they are trusted drivers...

something must be wrong. Maybe a bios/ Chipset update?

              Re: BF2/PC Peformance Problem!?!?

well everyone my 3Dmark 05 score is now 6042...

i am unsure of the CPU score thing, so any ideas guys, i want to get my score to at least 6500...

so lets just make a lsit of what i have done,

i fully formated the disc, thet helped,
              and installed the G-Xtreme drivers...
but i do not think i havce the latest drivers/mobo bios

so i think that would be the next step..

still though keep saying any ideas you people have...

by tyhe way my Leadtek winfast PX7800 GTX (My ViVo) ((
NOT EXTREME VERSION) is running at stock speeds, 430 gpu 1200 ram

but the leadtek website does actually say that it's easily overclockable to 450/1250 and they give you the downlaod to do it, shouldi go with that was well???

              thanks guys...

                Re: BF2/PC Peformance Problem!?!?

Don't have to wory to much about your CPU score, I think you should be getting at least 7000-7200 3d05 marks. I've got P4 3ghz + 7800 GT, I'm getting score of 6570 on 3d05. I think you shoud get mb bios, chipset drivers updated , if you'll do another reformat do it before you install your gfx card, maybe there is not much differnce but you can find some suggestions online (google) how to do nice and clean install of windows and everything else.

so now i really just need to gte the drivers and bios updated on the pc and then we will see if anything else actually needs to be done...

still taking suggestions ppl but thanks for all ur help so far...

alright last time im gonna go on about this...

is 6042 score on 3D Mark 05 a good score for my setup???

                      Mobo Gigabyte GA-8I915P-D (intel 915p)
CPU Intel pentium 4 3.4 ghz LGA775, (not dual core, not overclocked, aparently can be overclocked to 4 without a hitch, hehe yeh right...
RAM 2gb of DDRII 533 (elixir) (elixer bad ram???)
GFX Leadtek Winfast px7800 GTX THD MyViVo (not extreme)

I need to know a couple of things...

firstly if the score is what it should be,

secondly is the ram is no good cause it's elixir?, should go for corsair??? need to know so i can take it back...

thanks guys, so far uve been pretty damn good help considering i started off at 3300 now at 6042...

but i still think the system can do better, am i wrong???

                        Re: BF2/PC Peformance Problem!?!?

Do you have a sound card? This sounds like a sound card driver problem. I know you didn't mention if you have a sound card or not, but maybe you do and didn't list it because you didn't think it was the problem.

I'd also run other benchmarks or stress tests to see if it's a hardware problem. Try Prime95 and Memtest 86.

i don;t think it's a sound card issue as mine is a realtek 7.1 sourround soud built into the motherbaord...

but thanks for trying, still takign ideas ppl

will try those other stress tests as well though thanks...

6042 is NOT a good score for your setup. I got a score of 6045 with a 3GHz P4 and a X850XT PE (both slightly OC'd), and that is only average for my setup. You should get a score around 8000 +/- 1000.

Aside from the other things mentioned here be sure that you dont have any background programs running when you run 3DMark05, especially Norton Anti Virus. Terminate all non-essential process in task manager. I had two Norton Processes that couldn't be terminated in task manager so I had to disable the service in services.msc and reboot. I scored 1000 points higher after killing those two Norton services.

It is a long shot, but have you checked your cpu frequency. AMD has such an utility. And try running it with 2 mem sticks. As you stated youd didn't upgrade your bios. Do that also. Experiment abit with different settings. You should be able to go near the 10k mark with your setup.

                                Cheers
