    BF2/PC Peformance Problem!?!?

    3D mark 05: 3353

    all tests,
    res 1024x768
    anti none
    filtering optimal
    VS 3_0
    PS 3_0
    fixed framerate off

now I do not know what to do, I just bought this new rig, and it's doing ****...

    here are the specs,

    P4 650 3.4ghz LGA775 CPU
    Gigabyte GA-8I915P-D Motherboard
Leadtek Winfast PX7800 GTX THD 256mb Video card
    2gb of elixir DDR2 533 RAM

    I dno whats wrong,

    I used to have:

    P4 3.0 GHZ prescott socket 478
    intel D865PERL
    Leadtek Winfast A400 GT (6800 GT) 256mb
2gb of Corsair DDR400 RAM dual channel

and it ran all BF2 settings on high, 2x antialiasing, 100% view distance,
    at 1152x864x75hz
    without lag at all!!!

but the new system with the exact same settings except 85hz (cause my new monitor can handle that) does not even come close!?!?!

the system is running better but none of the games of anything visual!

    any ideas ppl???

have you reformatted w/ the new mobo/cpu install? if not you should.

when you say "reformatted" do you mean like fully re-install XP Pro?

          thanks for that

while we're on the subject of fixing stuff, at first when i booted up it only showed my secondary cd-rom drive,

then after i restarted a coupe of times cause i was fixing stuff, it dissapeared too, and now when i boot up it does not find eithe of them,

i have tried them in a different IDE port, in primary/slave mode and in cable select mode... but to no effect, and if i unplug them then my system drive does not show up...

          any ideas???

              im confused....

              ive got a 2.0ghz processer
              1 gig of ram
              and a standard 6800

yet i still get 4950 on 3dmark05 and can run bf2 on all high 2x aa @ 1280x1024

your system is much better than mine so i would have expected you to get a much higher 3dmark score

                    Re: BF2/PC Peformance Problem!?!?

Okay, listen carefully, because I will explain it only once. Perform the following steps:

                    - Check the Wattage on your PSU, you need at least a 350, but tbh a 450 is the real minimum with your setup!

                    - Get the latest drivers for your mobo, soundcard and any secondary equipement you've hooked up

                    - Get the G-Xtreme drivers from www.tweaksrus.com , they alone will boost your cards performance by 20-25% and that is no joke. You'll thank me later.

                    - Get KILLDISK, a low-level format utility

                    - Use KILLDISK to do a low level format aka Setting your Harddisk in the same state when you bought it. It doesn't just erase the directory structure, but actually overwrites all sectors with zero's.

Install Win XP pro. Install all the drivers. And run BF2 and 3DMark at the best settings.

                    Cheers

Sure, mate, but that will make the difference. Because all will be clean. I hope you didn't just install the G-Xtreme drivers without deinstalling the ones you had?

                              What's the G-Xtreme drivers you're talking about?

Never heard of that stuff, I've heard of Omega's custom drivers, but that's about it.

Care to share some info, since you claim these drivers alone gives such a massive performance increase?
