Please tell me you've been raising the vcore.

And its called the HyperTransport Bus guys.

    HTT (200) x LDT multi (5x) = HyperTransport Bus speed (1000).

Yeah, I get the names confused often.

okay, so If i were to OC to 2.25 with the same processer and my XMS ram. I should increas my vcore, and lower my LDT multiplyer to 4x, and that should keep it stable? And What if its not, lower my ram speed?

I would say yes. Give it a go and see how high you can get. Then I'd lower the ram divider down to the next setting your board has when you hit your limit. That will tell you if the Ram or CPU is your limiting factor at that speed. If you happen to go over 260 HTT then bump the LDT multi down to 3 x. I wouldn't recommend over 1.6 volts for the venice core although some say 1.65 is fine, but I like to keep my processor cool. I won't go over 1.55v on this Opty, and keep it at 1.44 volts for 24/7 operation.

Okay, but wouldnt bumping the LDT down, just lower the FSB, therefore making the OC to 2.25 worthless because the FSB is the same?

No, the LDT multi is just affecting the Hypertransport bus which is supposed to be set at 1000mhz. If you run it at say 225 x 4 (LDT) = 900mhz HTT bus it will not affect your performance. Your CPU frequency is a seperate issue. For that you take HTT 225 x 10 (CPU multi) = 2250mhz.

It's most important to keep your HTT bus below 1000mhz. If you run it too high it will start to adversly affect stability. It doesn't affect performance to be below 1000mhz. There is plenty of bandwidth there that it is nowhere close to being bottlenecked.

3200+... 10x multi i presume... try 240x10, 4x HTT multi and a 5:6 ram to fsb divider (and whatever volts you need to be stable) 2.4ghz and your mem is running at stock DDR400 speeds... I used to run at that speed until i realized my RAM could OC fairly well

Ok, one last question, what divider to use? I'm using a 2:3 divider, my mobo goes from 1:2 to 9:10, or just no divider. Which divider should i use for my mem.

Re: How the hell do i overclock past 2.25ghz?

Regarding the locked SATA ports, usually only 2/4 ports will be locked. For example SATA1 and SATA2 will be locked while SATA3 and SATA4 will be fine. If you're using SATA1/2, try switching to 3/4 and see if that helps.

For the RAM, you'll want it so your ram is running at a 166:200 divider, or 5:6 I think. This means your RAM will be running at DDR333 instead of DDR400 until you overclock. You'll need to reach 2.4GHz before you get to DDR400 again.

Thanx u guys, right now, i'm at a 2:3 divider (i'll change to 5:6 soon). I got the CPU vcore to 1.5volts, and the mem at 2.7 volts. My overclock is steady at 2.35 so far, i'm planning to overclock more, but i'm doing it little by little. Thanx for so much help, everybody who participated constructively (pretty much everybody that posted at this thread) i must thank u guys a TON .

If you get up around 240mhz like was said in the thread earlier running a 5:6 ratio/333 you will be running your ram at 200mhz which is it's stock speed. You should be able to pull at least 2.4-2.6Ghz overclock with a venice.

Nice, good to know somebody else here has the same PSU as i do. Anyways, i'm having probs getting over 2.35ghz now, i have the HTT multi at 4x, the FSB multi at 10x, the divider at 5:6, the CPU to 1.525v, and the mem at 2.7v. But no matter what i do, i can't get past 2.35 ghz, I've tried doing the following, lowering the HTT multi, upping the vcore voltage, changing the mem divider. What should i do next? Should i try giving the mem more voltage? Any tips at all?
