As a matter of interest, I also have an early AMD64 mobo and also only have 3x DIMM slots. Am considering upgrading RAM, however it seems that if I fill all three slots, then the frequency drops down to 333MHz. Did you find this too? Will that make any difference?
I know some people don't agree that 3GB is worth the expenditure, but hypothetically... is it best to have 2GB running at 400MHz, or 3GB running at 333MHz? I have an AMD64 with Newcastle core (I think)
Would be grateful if anyone could advise.

It's like not long ago 256 MB video cards were considered overkill, and you would do better with a 128 MB card that was faster.Originally posted by b6x
IMO the same thing applies here. It is better to have 2 GB 400 MHz, than 3 GB 333 MHz, as you would hardly never get to above 2 GB, and definately not while gaming games that are out now. Before BF2, 1 GB was the amount most ppl advocated, now it is 2 GB. 3 GB would be overkill IMO.
The scenarioes you would benefit 3 GB and above are in server environments, where the server is serving multiple clients and users at the same time, not just single user environment where you can do with far less.Comment

I have 2Gig and in 99.9% of the case I am first on the map with no sturrering at all, sometimes I can even cape a flag before some enemy is on the map.
2 gig or 3 Gig won't make much difirenceComment
