Forget 2 GB of RAM

I've got one of the early Athlon64 mobos. Unfortunately it only comes with 3 RAM slots so I decided to upgrade from 1.5 GB to 3.0. Wow, there is no comparison at all. I don't even need a page file. I warp in normally a good 10-20 seconds before anyone on my team.

Just letting you guys know that 3.0 can do a lot more than 2.0. I'm sure I'll get the "duh" comments, but there are plenty of benchmarks out there that say 1.0 and 1.5 don't have much of a difference. BF is really one of the first I think benefits immensely from more than 1.5. I never experienced 2, but some friends have it and now I load a lot faster. It seems like BF really hammers that page file pretty bad. Just need to try this out on FEAR to see if that helps.

I only have 512mb. It sucks. It takes about 5 minutes for a new map to load.

3 gigs, you should see the guys with 4 gigs!

Is it even possible to have more than 4?

No. 4 gigs are NOT useful (unless you have the right setup). Otherwise, they just slow you down.
Type "4 gigs" into the search function; I bet you'll find tons of people ranting about how it is stupid and doesn't help any.

Actually what your seeing is the difference of the 1/2 gig that took you to 2GBs.
I'm running a G15 Keyboard that shows my ram usage in game and it never goes past 72 percent. I have 2 gig total.

But I guess depending on your system config and programs you have running in the background, 3 gig may be your sweet spot.

I'm also running 4 sticks in dual channel mode.

3 and 4 gigs certainly may not help much in reality, true, but having 4 gigs certainly would not go on to slow you down..

try playing on servers with out battle recorder on you will be on 15 sec tops battle recorder is the tv with a green sreen next to the server name.

More like:

play on servers without the "green monitor icon" to the left of the server name. These servers don't have verification enabled, because they run Linux, or Linux 64 bit OS.

Because of the fact it doesnt go through the Verification, that may be why it's fastser.

Ive got 2 gigs of memory and im always in for the 1st spawn wave.


Comparing memory though i can only vouch for 1942 when i moved from 512mb to 1024mb then finaly to 2048mb.

and litteraly the load times whent from minutes to a mere 20 seconds at the most when i finaly stopped playing 42.

2 GB is great but if u have a ******* connection that is kicking u from servers all the time its not funny !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

windows x64 can have 1000 something.
