    Hello!

This is my very first post on any type of Battlefield 2 forum! I took about a two month long break from the game (~October-Late December)I have played the game since EA launched the demo, and my first post also contains a question.

I have pretty decent HP desktop. I got it back in April-May. It came with a gigabyte of RAM, A 3.00 GHz Pentium IV, and an 80 GB hard drive. The card that I bought with it was an NVidia Geforce FX 5500. For some strange reason, my computer's motherboard did not come with an AGP slot, so I have to stick with a PCI for now. I am going video card hunting at Best Buy tomorrow, and I have a $200-$250 budget. Can any of you give me any recommendations on a decent NVidia PCI card that can allow me to run the game comfortably above 800x600 at all the low settings? (preferrably 1024x1280 at all mediums or higher, with a good frame rate)

    Re: Hello!

Welcome! Well no other PCI video card is going to be better than what you have now.

This card is probably 3/4 of a year to a year old. Wouldn't something better and faster be out?

Is it possible that my computer could be PCI-Express Compatible? I mean, it's pretty weird that it didn't come with an AGP slot in the motherboard...

Then I don't think it does but you could double check. You do know how to open the case right?

The check if you have a slot that looks like the black one

It does not have to be black, if they all look like the white ones in the picture then you only have PCI.

                      Re: Hello!

The situation looks grim...I only saw 1 or 2 white slots. Is there anything I can do to boost my performance? It is a little choppy playing even on 800x600@75, with all settings to low. I am going to update my video card drivers, haven't done that in ages.

                        Re: Hello!

He means look at the board and the slots. Not colors, see how the smaller slots (white) have the bar on the right , in the middle of the slot? And the black one has the bar to the left? Black and bar to the left is PCI-E, thats what your looking for. I'm assuming you have PCI-E, mosty pc's sold now have that slot.

                          Re: Hello!

It says it has 3 PCI slots not AGP and doesn't say nothing about PCI-e

I searched too and the board (PTGD-LA) has 3 tsandard PCI slots only (!!!)
