Ya, like at least 3-4 times before he said it lol. If the R580 actually had 48 pipes, and had the same or higher clock speeds than the X1800XT, that would be overkill, the X1800XT with 16 pipes already beats teh GTX256mb in most areas, a X19000XT with higher clock speeds and 48 pipes would decimate the competition. But then again, it would cost over 1000 bucks each most likely, and u would need pretty insane cooling.

Ya, if there really was a 48 pipe card with as high or higher clock speeds than the X1800XT, it would be runnning BF2 at like 200FPS if u turned off the FPS limit thingy.

It was said that it will be clock high, not higher then the X1800. I believe it will be around the same clock as the X1800.

Which is where ATi has the edge. Nvidia may have the higher frame rate, but ATi's cards have better image quality in my experiance. Especially with the new ones. The x1800XT holds it's frame rate much better than even the 7800GTX 512mb at high levels of AA.

I'm just wondering where BF3 will go to, the 3rd millenium or something, where everybody fires automatic lasers and body armor is good enough to reflect lasers back at the shooter lol. Anyways, i would suspect the BF3 would be just as graphics hungry as BF2 for it's time.

I think a logical choice would be to make MMOFPS as the next battlefield installment. That would rock.

Q1 of '06? Like the X1800s were supposed to come out Q2 of '05? lol. Yeah right.

And theres a BIG difference between 48 pipes and 48 vertex shaders. It probably won't be much better than the 7800GTX.

Ya, every new card from each manufacturer will just barely top the other in one generation (that means not comparing X850series and 7-series). Anyways, i don't trust release dates, some examples of why, BF2 was supposed to come out on March 21, 2005, the day after my birthday, but no, they delayed it till June 21, 2005, Bf2 patch 1.03, it said late august, it came in october. I never trust release dates.

Oh yea, noticed a typo in my post. I meant it probably wouldn't be much better than the 7800GTX-512MB, which is pretty freakin good.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia released the GeForce 8s with DX10 and SM4.0 by the time ATi comes out with their X1900s, lol

Yeah, that's a possibilty, anyways, what is DX10, and i wonder if shader model 4.0 will come out before manufacturers reveal their new cards. Anyways, ya, the GTX-512mb is undoubtly the best card out right now, only prob is it is a tad (more than a tad really) expensive and like i said, i hate dual slot cooling solutions if they're not good ones (that means VF-700-CU for me).

SM4.0 probably won't use its full potential when it comes out (kinda like the Xbox360). Think of how FarCry looked when it came out, that was the first DX9.0 game. Then compare it to Unreal Tournament 2007, and you see what DX9.0 is really capable of.
Hmm, interesting, nice info on DX9.0 and DX10.

DX10, also called Windows Graphics Foundation is something that will come with Windows Vista. After it's release all current videocards (yes, even the 7800GTX-512MB, and any X1900s) will be "behind the times" or "outdated" since the will all have to run at DX9.0 settings. WGF is basically the next step in DX9.0c, but a very big step at that.

DX10 probably won't use its full potential when it comes out (kinda like the Xbox360). Look at FarCry when it came out, that was the first DX9.0 game. Then compare it to Unreal Tournament 2007 and you see what DX9 is really capable of. So WGF probably won't be so great when it comes out, but oh will it be sweet when it gets up and running.

Since WGF if a part of Windows Vista, it will also enable Windows Vista to be displayed in 3-D.
