the R580 will only have 16 pipelines like the current x1800 series , not 18, not 20, not 48, but 18 .

But actualy we can't see it anymore as pipelines, the x1800 series and the upcomming x1900 series are actualy pixel processors

that will be stupid, like as I said. if nvidia keeps the 7800gtx out, which can play every single game on high graphics at fast framerates, the prices will go down. And even though it wont be as good as the x1900, it will be way cheaper and the performance will still rock. They really only need to make new technology when its needed.

They have what are presumably early pics of the x1900. There will be x1900XT, XTX, and crossfire models, with XL models maybe showing up later. The XTX is said to have 650mhz VPU, and 1550mhz memory. They should all be available January 24th, 2006.

Nice, I just got 700 for Christmas and was thinking of buying another GTX and an SLi motherboard...but **** that. I'm going to wait until this comes out, it's going to be insane. The clocks on the R520 are already high as hell, this one is going to be higher, plus 48 pipes? Double the GTX's? Wow. Insane.

The 48 shader pipes will aid in performance quite a bit though. Also I think that the memory on this card will be able to be clocked high and have lots of bandwidth.
Also Nvidia is coming out with there next line of cards in Frebruary (or January I can't remember) that will have 32 pixel pipelines (the real stuff not shader) whisch is 8 more than the 7800GTX which has 24.
