Well, I'll have to see what the prices are. The system I have planned now would run nearly $2,000, so 19's might be out of my reach.

cross fire is ATIs version of SLi, but they have less cards compatible, and the performance isnt as good.

Less cards compatible?? You can use any PCI express X800, X850, or X1800 series card. There is some mod to use crossfire where you don't even need to use a master card for it to work.

umm, you have to have a special corssfire card first off. and compare, 6600, 6600le/gt, 6800ultra, 6800gt 6800gs, 7800gt, 7800gtx. i guess its about the same, but you still need a special master card for crossfire.

No you don't. Well since you are going to name every specific card here goes. You can use the X800, X850, and X1800 crossfire, X800 GT, X800 GTO, X800 GTO2, X800 pro, X800 XL, X800 XT, X800 XT PE, X850 pro, X850 XT, X850 XT PE, X1800 XL, X1800 XT, X1300, X1600, and X700 in crossfire. I'll tell you again and post proof that the ATI's don't need a mastercard.

A new ATI advisory is out, and it looks like ATI fans are in for an interesting surprise; X1300 and X1600 won't need a master card. We confirmed this with a few AIBs over the last few hours, but it appears that ATI will release a new driver soon that enables Crossfire over the PCIe bus on Radeon X1300 and X1600 video cards - eliminating the need for dedicated master cards.

Low end NVIDIA cards can already run in SLI mode with out any additional support. Even on high end cards, the SLI bridge can be removed with a performance hit. These bridge-less, cable-less Radeons will represent the purest vision of a multi-GPU configuration. Rather than purchase a BBA (Built By ATI) master card, any AIB or BBA Radeon X1600 will work together in Crossfire mode. AIB partners could not confirm as to whether separate graphic card families would also work together in Crossfire mode.

There is a mod that will run two of any of the listed ATI cards in crossfire although it's limited and the modes aren't available it still works.
