Okay. I haven't kept up to date with hardware for years, and can't locate the source of a problem I'm having.
I tried installing the BF2 demo in preparation for buying the game - which I'd heard was great - but after the first few screens (with all the gubbins about what's in the full game) it crashes to a resized desktop and tells me to reset my video settings. I fiddled with some of the video settings (switched between DirectX and OpenGL, nothing too deep in case I messed things up further), but to no avail.
I read the 'crashes to the desktop' thread, there's nothing there I haven't already tried. I searched for others but found nothing applicable. Apologies if I somehow missed the solution.
I have a 2.4GHz Intel Pentium 4, 512MB RAM and the video card is a MSI RX9250 (256MB I think). To the best of my knowledge the drivers are up-to-date.
I'm mostly curious about whether my video card (above) is compatible with the game. I wondered initially if it was a dodgy demo file, but after reading about all these 'crashing to desktop' issues I suppose it's probably hardware related, and a common problem.
I'd also like to ask if anyone knows where to download a known 100% good copy of the demo, and whether these problems will necessarily crop up with a full version of the game.
All help appreciated.
