i have 850 xtpe card agp had the problems to start with so changed me ram and used dna gfx drivers all sweet now . getting from 75 to 150 fps in game useing fraps program.

RA-1972, what are your settings on? And have you done anything other than installing the DNAs to get your frames that high?

Does DNA driver include wdm drivers for video capture as well?

I also noticed that they are ancient... last update was 6 months ago.

So I can talk about whatever is topical, I commented on the fact that you have yet to step into the real realm of gaming, the Athlon 64 939, Intel is dead in the realm of gaming. It is a proven fact.

Also you assertion that not plugging the PSU into the card won't hose your card is just plain wrong. I am by trade a computer technician. I have dealt with all sorts of Graphics Cards over the last 10 years, including the old long format graphics cards, even back then some had external power ports. Recently I had a client who bought a Nvidia 6600GT. He plugged it into the AGP slot, but didn't know he was supposed to plug an ATA power connector into the back of the board. The system started fine and ran well enough, then he tried to run a game, and suddenly the zigzag pattern appears, and the screen goes pink.
Then the PC goes down. I reboot, it starts ok, no video though, So I pull the card and put the old one back in, all is well. I drop the 6600GT into a PC back at the shop, no video. I RMA the card back to the manufacturer and sure enough it was cooked. So look, talk about stuff you have experience with. And get a sense of humor while you are at it.:)

All that experience and you still don't know its the overall system that creates a fast and gaming computer. AMD creates chips for certain purposes, it may be everyday use, or gaming. Intel creates chips for certain purposes, again daily use, or high end editing. But the fact that you say basically Intel has no place in the gaming industry, shows how narrow minded you really are. MANY people have Intel based gaming systems that are blazing fast for games. It's not the chip, it's the setup.

Im not debating that Intel P4 is better than Athlon 64.... its not.

But the "You are one of 6 people still using a Pentium Processor to play games other than Solitare or Minefield. " comment is just plain stupid. Intel has 80% market share. Far more people use Pentium than Athlon.

As for the no power cord not being plugged in.... thats just an isolated incident. I did the same thing with my 9700 to see what would happen if I didn't plug it in. There video card wasn't detected and that was it. Connect back the power, and its all good. You are suggesting that not giving the card enough power will cook it?

Dont you have to go feed your dog or something, get off it already, and for your information, the newer cards aka x850 and 6800 and up, will run without the power adapter, the x850 it will tell you when you boot up that it needs the external power and will not let you boot all the way, and the 6800, will tell you in windows that the card is not getting enought power and that it has clock itself down to protect it, oh and about the intel comments, well something i expect it from one of the few ignorant AMD fan boys. He came here asking for help with his Video card not for you to bash on his hardware, so **** off.
