Won't happen. The 6800GS is cheaper than the X1600s and outperforms it by far (unless you claim that a X1600 will beat 6800GT-like performance).

As for the X1800XL beating the 7800GT, "colors and image quality are better?". You really think thats from the videocard and not the monitor? Lol. And you have your X1800XL overclocked right? What're your temps? 112*C? You know how you're supposed to stop overclocking once something gets too hot? Well the X1800 cards come "too hot" as stock.

I think it's more realistic to use results with 4 x AA enabled. Who doesnt use at least 4x AA and 8x AF with these high end cards?

The difference in BF2 performance is no more than 5 FPS at any resolution in favor of the 7800 GT.

Why would you need AA with 1600x1200 resolution? Trust me, the guys at [H]ardOCP are smarter than you, they know what they're doing. You don't need AA with 1600x1200 resolution.

As the the 5fps lead...thats a 5FPS lead on a card that runs MUCH MUCH MUCH cooler and costs about $75 less.

Hey no need to personally attack me. In fact I would choose a 7800 GT over an XL, but don't make it more of a difference than it is. I'm merely posting more varied results using more realistic resolutions. Everyone doesn't play the game at 1600 x 1200 resolution.

You ask why would you need AA at 1600x1200? Well if thats your opinion why did you post results at that res with 2xAA?

How would you know if someone that you don't know is smarter than someone else you don't know?

I have more faith in Anandtech results than [H]ardOCP. In fact one of "your" graphs is from anandtech also.

I wasn't attacking you, or atleast didn't mean to.I just meant that there was a reason they did 1600x1200 and not enable AA. And the results from 1600x1200 should be similar to 1280x1024 with AA and AF (since those with LCDs cannot play at 1600x1200).

Thats actually not the case since ATI scales better when AA is enabled and takes less of a hit than the Nvidia cards.

Yes it is card, not monitor, I've seen it myself after helping my friend change a 9800 pro to 7800 GTX, NVidia and ATI have slightly different colors and ATis AF quality is much better, also temps on my X1800, 58*, 52* stock. THe whole issue with the X1800 being too hot was a driver error which was reading the cards like 30* over what they really were, catalyst 5.11 took care of that. And also your BF2 analysis isn't fair, ATi's AD AA auto defaults to Supersampling or whatever the highest form of transperency AA is while the Nvidia card is run at Multisample AA which is less demanding then AD people forget that Hard runs on max playable settings and that in that test the X1800 XL is on higher settings. And whats with the tests without AA enabled, i didnt get this card to run w/o AA its all about 1600x1200 4xAA 16xHQAF (high quality AF a feature NVcards cant do.)

hmmm recent drivers make a big difference as the X1800 doesn't seem to lose at every game like the initial reviews it actually ties on one, wins 3 and loses 3 that sounds like a tie to me, and i only expect ATI to squeeze more performance out of its R5x0 based chips

In response, look at the x1800xl and 7800gt scores:

GT wins


Single gt loses, but only by 3 fps, again the dual gts beat the crossfire x1800xl.



Ati wins, but by less than 10 fps.



Sli wins rather handily, but the single gt looses by 1 fps.


Sli destroys crossfire, but the single gt wins by .7 fps.



Amazingly, even a single gt beats the crossfire setup here.
And when it comes to power consumption:




Not to mention that you can find the gt anywhere for at least 75 bucks cheaper, I'd say it wins all around.

75 bucks... try 30-40 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814142053 also the XL can OC to XT spec (GT can OC to GTX clocks but still lacks 4 pipes so an XT equiv still beats it), the ATI card is worth the extra money for the better IQ, compare my comp side by side with my friends with a GTX and he and i could pick out which one was which in a heartbeat (especially while moving in game) also those scores you posted were on the old drivers, the newest drivers give 7-10% increase in every game and 35% increase in openGL based games.

yup, and also another good thing for the X1K's http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=988870 HDR + AA in all types of HDR, farcry with HDR and AA looks great.

Ya, in BF2, i play max settings (all high, 1280x1024, 6xaa, 16xaf) and i get 60 fps lol with my X800XL, so a X850XTPE could definetly get better than 40 fps.
