      I like my LCD. I've had no problems with gaming. I used to be a die-dard CRT fan, but in recent weeks have changed my mind.

          Depends on what you like I guess. So far, I don't think there is an LCD out there that can produce color like an old fashioned CRT. I've seen alot of LCD monitors with very low response times, and I still see a very very faint bit of trailing in the image. But, you can't beat the footprint of an LCD with a CRT, period.

            You're going to love your 2005FPW. I've had one for about a month and it is so much better than my 21" NEC CRT monitor. There's no way I could go back. Best monitor I've ever had. I read about the fear of "ghosting" and slow response times for LCD monitors, but their is none of that with this one. It also acts as a USB hub. I also love having the speakers mounted to the bottom of the monitor. Saves space while providing adequate sound. (the speakers don't come with it - you have to select it as an option). Get this monitor, you won't regret it.

              While a few years ago LCD's were kind of crap for gaming, now they aren't so bad. However, In my opinion a nice big flat CRT is still the best choice for gaming at the moment. I got a brand new 21" flat CRT with amazing picture quality, and high resolutions for $150. Now will I pay 5x times as much to get an LCD to save some desk space, but play on lower resolutions? I think not.

              CRT is the still way to go IMO, unless you have the money to go buying some fancy monitor when it is no better for gaming(actually worse) than a CRT.

              A few years down the road, when LCD is a bit more advanced...then you may begin to see CRT's dissappearing from the market.

                CRT all the way until I see an LCD that doesn't hurt my eyes and looks just as good as a CRT, if not better.

                  I've stared at my Monitor/TV for hours on end and my eyes have never began hurting.

                    I switched to a 17inch lcd 2 years ago 16ms response, i still don't notice any ghosting, When your gaming your not looking at that stuff.

                    They are a lot smaller and are so much easier to take to lans.

                    And they are better then crts in regards to looking at. Crt's used to give me headaches all the time, my lcd does not.

                    Of course you cant run the max resolutions but 1280x1024 isnt that bad! Of course you can always stick two together as well

                    And the usability of them far outways the crt.

                    Once you have had one you wont go back.

                      About 2 years back CRT's (Cathode Ray Tube or CRT) were good and still are. They have a tube like lens (Which is why they're so heavy) and at the same have incredible graphics. Great for gaming

                      The new lcd and plasma's even are much better, some surpassing CRT's and have more fps making them better. I own a CRT, But i rather an LCD by all means because the bloody thing takes up too much space.

                      The high refresh rates and response times of CRT monitors also makes them ideal for video purposes. Since the tubes are based on the same technology that is used in television sets, it makes sense that the video display of a monitor is better able to reproduce the fluid motion of video playback on the CRT and its color is generally better too.

                      Pros:

                      * Inexpensive
                      * Multisync Capable
                      * High Refresh Rates
                      * Color Clarity and Depth

                      Cons:

                      * Large Footprint on Desktop
                      * Very Heavy
                      * Use Large Amounts of Energy
                      * Generate Excess Heat

                      LCD (Liquid Crystal Display):

                      They produce less eye fatigue, look nice use less energy.

                      Pros:

                      * Takes up Little Space on Desktop
                      * Light Weight
                      * Energy Efficient
                      * Causing Less Eye Fatigue

                      Cons:

                      * Expensive
                      * Blurry Images Outside Native Resolution
                      * Motion Blur on Fast Moving Images
                      * Washed Out Colors
                      * Ghosting

                      Basically CRT = better for graphics and gaming, Lcd is just sleeker and comfortable.

                        Its actually a fact that an LCD monitor is easier on the eyes than a CRT monitor. A lot of large corporations that have their employees using computers a lot, are switching to LCD because of that.

                        Everything else, as far as the pros and cons of either, Im not sure about. I havent noticed any kind of response lag or any problems with my LCD. Its also pretty bright too.

                        I have a feeling its really a monitor to monitor basis as far as sharpness and response lag.

                          LCD, because it is better for most everything else except games. I love my sony 17inch right now. I plan on getting a 2405fpw in the next 2 years.

                            I lean more towards the LCD. . . I love my 19" Viewsonic which has the same viewable as most low end 21" monitors. . . don't see any problems with ghosting. . . although I do miss the .21 dot pitch of my CRT. . .

                              Ya forgot a catagory!

                              HMDs (head mounted display) are starting to become a practical reality.

                              Those would/will be the ultimate in gaming displays!
