hmmm that FPS on only 1024 rez seems low... my X1800 XL gets 65-90 FPS on 1280x1024 6xAA all High on a AMD 64 at 2.4ghz and 1 gig of ram. And every review says the GT is a superior card, you got drivers up to date, make sure the card is running at the right clocks?

I just got my 7800GT a week and a half ago, and since then it BF2 seems to have been getting only about 40-65fps and the very rare 80-90fps. This is with everything maxed at the 1078x*** resolution (or whatever that one is).

You say that everything is maxed out, does this mean Ultra-High detail settings and 8xS AA + 16x AF? If yes, then you shouldn't expect much higher framerates with your system.

You also mention that there's no difference with everything on low. With 'low', do you also mean the AA/AF settings (i.e. they're turned off or set to 2x)?
Are you SURE there's no difference between everything on low and everything on high? You should use a program like Fraps to capture your average framerates over time while experimenting. It sounds VERY strange that there's no difference between max and low.

Have you tried deleting the BF2 cache and re-optimise the shaders? You could try the drastic thing of reformatting and rebuilding.

Already reformatted a week ago, there is barely anything on this HD. The clock speeds are now at a stable 500mhz core and 1.16ghz mem clock. I dunno whats causing it either. Everything but BF2 is doing great. I thought it might be my memory but thats fine, and I added another 512mb for a total of 2.5 gigs of ram. I just installed the newest drivers as well. You guys are seriously getting 60+fps on 64 player maps with a bunch of crap going on? Mine drops to like 20-25. I feel like I just wasted $300.

Isn't there a program that is available that can give all the system specs and current performance so people can determine what might be wrong? I thought I saw something like that on another forum.

All high, there is no difference between Ultra and High. Everything on High with 2 or 4x doesn't make a difference. Everything on "Low", just as it says in the game, and no AA still makes no difference. It sounds very strange but I am getting a max of about 40fps and low of 25 no matter what the map and settings.

Well I think I fixed it...

I reformatted my HD and installed windows again, did Nforce4, Forceware, and then other installs and it is better for the most part.

I still think it could be better. Everything on high with no 2xAA has me around 50 during intense battles w/artillery etc. and 70-90 when not much is going on. Still hardly worth the money.
